Default Photoshop keeps crashing

I got a new computer (iMac), maybe a month ago. I installed my old copy of CS5 - had no problems with it on the last computer. Today I went to print something, and when I click on "print settings" photoshop crashes. I've tried printing a few different elements (some old, some new), on a different document, and restarted the computer... still happening. No clue where to go from here

Have you tried Googling to see if it's a known problem and if there are any solutions? Other than that, I've got nothing. Good luck!

I'd probably google like Rachel suggested (both Apple and PS) and I'd also consider uninstalling and reinstalling the program. My guess is it has to do with some sort of setting, but I have no idea where I'd start with that. Good luck, I hope it gets fixed.

I just thought of something. What mode are you running PS in? I just bought a new MAC myself and use PS5 and haven't had a problem, so I don't think it's a compatibility issue. Try going to Image -> mode --- MACs have to use 32 bit mode or higher, otherwise they are unstable.

I would try deleting the Preference file before uninstalling anything. Sometimes the file gets corrupted and causes weird issues. Here's how to do it for CS5:

Quote:
To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.

It was set at 8... no idea if it's always been like that or not. However, now the "print" option under File is grayed out

You have to restart the program after you change the mode for it to take effect. Operating in a 32 bit mode disables one or two filters, which I always thought was a bummer with MACs, but you can always temporarily enable it ... it's just a PITB having to restart the program.

I bought this last month or in August I think and for 8 days now it keeps on crashing my pse and cs, I tried to open this when I bought it but my pse and cs crashes everytime I open the psd and tif file. Then I forgot to ask about it until today.
