Default Because I know you can understand...

Last August, we lost our computer (and TV, DVD player, modem) to lightning. We ended up buying a new iMac and as you can imagine, it was a long process recovering everything - thankfully I had back blaze and was able to get most everything back.

Flash forward to yesterday and my "new" computer won't turn on!! I'm taking it to Apple on Wednesday, but all I can do is hope for the best. The thought that I will have to start over again makes me want to cry... Last time was worst case scenario, they couldn't retrieve anything. This time, I'm hoping its repairable - crossing my fingers but not holding my breath!

I'm sorry! Nothing worse than computer woes. Especially after you lost everything just a year ago. The silver lining is that the computer is probably still under warranty? Good luck!

OMGosh, I'm so sorry! Do you use Time Machine? If so, could you use that to restore/retrieve your files, if (worst case scenario) they can't be recovered by the Apple folks?

Oh, no! Do you still have Backblaze or another backup? I know it's a huge, time-consuming pain to get everything set back up, but at least it's not all truly gone forever. I hope they'll fix it for you under the warranty!

Oh no! Hopefully it's as simple as a new power adaptor... I had that happen to an old iMac. Good luck!

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! This is a good reminder for me to back all my stuff up. Aren't those Apple people supposed to know how to fix everything?

I don't have an external hard drive, so I don't use Time machine. But, I still have back blaze. Last time, I only lost two layouts (that I know of, lol). We bought this computer September 6 last year, so hopefully it is something the warranty will cover!!
