What is your favorite Thanksgiving food???
If you had to pick one thing, what is your absolute, can't live without food that you look forward to for Thanksgiving?? Mine is cheese rolls. My mom made them every year and me and a couple of siblings have carried on the tradition. My family looks forward to them every year and some disappear before dinner.

Scalloped corn!!!
But I love a lot of Thanksgiving foods. Green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes (but not with marshmallows on top, just lots of brown sugar and butter), and...I know I will be judged for this but...the canned jellied cranberry sauce. It's like can shaped cranberry jello and I love it! Actually the turkey is of least importance to me.

My homemade cranberry sauce, hands down.
But I also love corn casserole, green bean casserole, and PIE. I do NOT do stuffing. Ick. And I could take or leave the turkey. I'd prefer ham, but I refuse to do both for just our small family. |

Pumpkin mousse. Soooo good! I'm a vegetarian so there are a lot of holiday foods that hold no appeal, but my mother usually makes me a Tofurkey that's a close second. (Go ahead and laugh, but I'm eating it anyway! 😉

Kristin I love stuffing. As I kid I hated it and now I know why. My mom put oysters in it and thought all stuffing was like that.

Stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes (but only a little and they have to have the marshmallows haha!), and the stuffing...oh and the mashed potatoes & gravy! I agree with Sara, the turkey doesn't appeal to me much. It's everything else lol! I'm not a big turkey fan and I hate it reheated so I always feel like it's a waste.

If I was in charge of the menu, it would be broccoli-cheese casserole. Oh man do I love that stuff. We don't have it nearly enough at family gatherings but I have fond memories of eating it at every church potluck when I was a kid.
However, whomever is hosting (my mom or my sister) decides the menu and then assigns you a dish. For some reason, I'm usually assigned green bean casserole which is not even really cooking so much as dumping things in a dish to be heated up. I still don't understand this as I am a good cook & someone who enjoys cooking. It's not worth rocking the boat, though; both my mom and my sister get super anxious abt hosting and want certain dishes done a certain way so I shrug my shoulders, go with the flow, and make sure to wash the dishes afterwards. |

We've had the fortune to be invited by the locals to Thanksgiving dinner every year since we've been in the US, but this year we don't know. If it's up to me it'll be just pies and sweet potato casserole, as sweet as you can make it LOL. I have a terrible sweet tooth. My husband loves stuffing though so I'll make that too.

My bff's hubby makes a rice dressing that has sausage in it. It was his grandmother's recipe. It's so yummy! I dislike stuffing/dressing but this one I will just eat up.

Okay, this thread has my tummy screaming for food, and well, wine! LOL! Since I am Canadian too I guess I should celebrate both. YUM!! This is so fun to see all the traditional foods everyone has. LeeAndra, I think you should step and say, hey, give me something else this year. I know easier said than done.

like Amish noodles...is that a thing anywhere else?! I remember mentioning noodles to someone else and they were so confused...haha! Just egg noodles and then you can mix them with your mashed potatoes and turkey. There are tons of Amish stands that sell noodles and Thanksgiving is the perfect time for them lol! sometimes my mom will make them from scratch. We even had a Bible study once and the old ladies taught us younger ones how to make noodles after one of the classes. It's totally a thing here even if it isn't anywhere else

That is cool Crystal. I have never heard of those. Our one "tradition" that is for my hubby is rice. He's not a big mashed potatoes guy and loves his rice.
