Question Magnets anyone?

My parents came for a visit last year and we did Helen Hunt Falls, but discovered there were no magnets in the visitor's shop. Later the kids and I did the Will Roger's Shrine and discovered there weren't any magnets for that place as well.

I got thinking, I took a TON of photos. I can scrap. Why can't I make magnets? But where do you buy/send magnets? I dont want cheap magnets, but a nice magnet.

We've collected magnets for as long as I can remember! I even made my own magnet board so we don't have to take the magnets off our fridge with every move we make--that and we've collected too many magnets now that we ran out of space!

Where does one print nice, souvenir-worthy magnets? Price is not a problem, because let's face it, it's worth it especially since both my parents and our family love magnets!

I don't know many places, but you can get them done at vistaprint. I've never done it, but you can do it there, lol

I have had magnets printed at Vistaprint, they are good unless you are wanting them to actually hold something under them then not so much. But for your purposes they would be great.

I've seen the ads in Shutterfly as well as Adoramapix, but I don't know their quality, as I never ordered them.
We collect magnets too from the places we visit. I love to see our fridge filling up with those magnets! They bring back the holiday memories!

That's why we like them. The kids love looking at the magnets and it's an instant conversation piece. Sometimes the kids like to quiz us and say things like "where would we find Bao Bao" and we'd have to answer "The National Zoo in DC" I feel like we are on Jeopardy. But the kids like it and we like being able to talk about the many opportunities that the military has given our family with our many moves!

I got a ton from Something Blue Studios years ago, but I don't know if they're still in business, so I ordered some from shutterfly not too long ago

I've purchased magnets from Shutterfly. I think the quality is ok. I've sort of wondered if the edges would scuff or rip if they were moved a lot. But since you have a special board they would stay on I say give them a try. By the way, I think that your board with the magnets from your trips is a great idea!

I thought they went out of business years ago! I just checked and they have some decently priced magnets!

I kind of wondered about the edges rubbing on, being printed on there. And thanks! The day I showed my parents what I had done, my dad said, "did I tell you I was working on this?" Apparently, he was stumped where to find the sheet metal and I beat him to the idea as he was looking for someway to display their magnets as well!

For anyone wanting to make their own. I used

Studio Décor® Platinum Collection Frame, Black - Black - 24"x36"
http://www.michaels.com/studio-decor...-size&start=12

IMPERIAL 24-in x 3-ft Sheet Metal
https://www.lowes.com/pd/IMPERIAL-24...-Metal/3234805

The sheet metal fits perfectly inside the frame. The frame is sturdy enough to hold about 20-30 pounds of magnets. Of course I used molly bolts to hang the frame so that the screws in the wall could hold the weight of the frame.

I'm thinking we'll need to start a second one in a year or so!
