Default Check this out...bad storms moving through

I really really hate storms which involve a lot of lightning. And this one looks like it has tons (all those little white spots are lightning). It is on the other side of Florida so maybe it'll die out before it hits us over here towards the east coast! I saw on the news it is the driest it has been here since 1998 and there were sooo many wildfires that year. So we do not need the lightning although we defenitely need the rain.

I just uploaded it to photobucket and resized it

the little line that is right under Orlando and the one that is going through Melbourne...where the two lines intersect is about where I live (about 15 miles away). Those should be Highway 50 & I-95.

Woo-hoo! I was at Target when that came by. It was loud on the roof... and suddenly very dark outside...

I live where the "Y" is on the west coast and its pouring buckets here. We did get some lightening with it but for the most part there isn't a lot so far. The news is reporting that we still have another 5 to 6 hours of rain to go through. A friend of mine in the town above mine said that a tornado went through the street behind hers (only three houses on the street and it missed all three of them).

Goodness!

It looks like the rain finally showed up, huh? We needed it... but maybe not this bad. LOL!

No. It sprinkled but no real rain. My sister said it was bad near her. We really need the rain. The only thing growing in our yard is weeds. The grass is brown and crunchy. It makes me nervous. We had a fire start a few years ago in our yard cause our idiot neighbors decided to burn stuff on a windy day and embers flew into our yard. In a matter of seconds it went from a spot about five inches to about five feet. Luckily we were all outside when it happened. My son grabbed a shovel. I grabbed a hose and my husband grabbed the phone and called 911. Then when it was out I started yelling at them asking them what the heck they were thinking. They actually live on the street down from us but their back yard is next to ours. They had just moved in too. So they hurried up and put the fire out and covered it with dirt so by the time the fire dept got here the fire was out there and they sprayed the area where ours was really well to make sure it was completely out then went over to tell them to cease from burning anything.

Oh goodness... and you're in that fire corridor area, too aren't you? I bet the fire department loved your neighbors. LOL!

we seem to have wildfires out here every single year. Either down on 520 or the next road down from us there is nothing but woods/wetlands. It is the worst when it gets in the wetlands because the fire can go underground. In 1998 the wildfires were so bad and my son had asthma at the time. They blocked the roads so nobody could come and get me and I was not about to take him outside to walk to the highway because there was so much smoke outside and it is three miles to the highway but our air was broken and it was summer so I had to keep the windows closed. It was so miserable. My husband and kids did not get home until 9 something at night when they finally reopened the roads. I am praying we start getting some rain so the area is not so dry around us.

OMGsh--and if I remember, that summer was really hot! That was the year before I graduated from UCF... and then left the state for 10 years. LOL! I thought I'd never move back.

Yep it sure was. I saved the newspaper from one of the days where they had a special section devoted to reporting about the wildfires and the effects. It had some pictures of firemen and the actual toll the fires had on the environment (how many acres were burned and where the fires all were).
