Really interesting seeing how things vary even within a geographic region.
I'm in South Dakota and I buy the day-old bread for between $1.25 (white) and $1.75 (wheat). Milk is around $2.79 and I think gas is at $1.80.

Food is expensive here, IMO. I live outside Washington, DC.
gallon of 1% store-brand milk $3.49 name-brand whole wheat bread $3.99 specialty bakery breads are $4-$6 gas $1.90 or so
