Summer Games - July 28: Parallel Bars

Hey there Sweet Shoppers!

Happy July 28th! I hope you're enjoying this year's Summer Scrap-a-thon! I am so excited to be here today hosting the second day of the Olympics phase of this event and I can't wait to reveal your next challenge!

Today's challenge is inspired by the sport of gymnastics, specifically the parallel bars, and I hope you love what our team has come up with for you on this one!

Let's get to it...

Parallel Bars are floor apparatus consisting of two wooden bars slightly over 3.4 metres (11 ft) long and positioned at roughly head height. The apparatus consists of two parallel bars that are held parallel to, and elevated above, the floor by a metal supporting framework.

Today's challenge is pretty straightforward. For the parallel bars challenge, I want you to create a page that shows two distinct parallel lines across your page either vertically or horizontally.


All you have to remember is to make sure your lines are distinctly parallel and vertically or horizontally across your page. Let's get creative!!


I knew I wanted to go horizontally across my page and set out by creating two strips across my page, then I added my photos creating my base for the parallel lines. I pulled out these pictures of Harlow enjoying her pool last week during our heat wave and then went in search of a kit. I saw Flergs' Hello July Collection and knew that was the kit. I chose the striped paper to keep the theme of parallel lines in my background. My thought was to keep the eyes moving left to right across the page in a fluid motion.

Remember, there are NO SET DEADLINES for our daily challenges. YOU decide what you want to scrap, WHEN you want to scrap, and have the freedom to decide what prizes you want to earn or try to win. As long as you've met those requirements and updated our master tracker by September 2nd in the case of our grand prizes, or have this month's tracker updated by the end of July if you're trying to earn this month's 40% discount, you're golden!
