Default Royal Wedding

Can I just say that Kate looks absolutely beautiful!!! I wasn't going to make a big deal about the wedding but she looks so beautiful.

Her dress is very Grace Kelly. I love how simple and modern she looks from head to toe.

And can I ask
WHAT IN THE HELL DOES BEATRICE HAVE ON HER HEAD!? I want to throw darts through it or skee ball or something. That thing is ridiculous!

I know it's custom for hats and ridiculous ones at that but that is dumb!

lol is that beatrice sitting behind the queen in creme colored... because that hat sticks out as dumb!!

The wedding is traditional and beautiful. The dress is so Kate which is perfect, I kinda was hoping for something else but its always about the bride

I'm glad she opted for such an elegant gown and bridal bouquet. And may I add I love how she's very calm, happy and collected!

They look so very happy together, hope this is a forever kinda thing.

And yes, Beatrice' 'hat' is absolutely ridiculous, although I love her smart suit compared to Eugenie's bubble dress. There are so many yummy hats!

Overall, what an elegant wedding!

:sigh: Yes, it is beautiful, she's beautiful, I love the dress but it's not what I was thinking/hoping for. You could see any bride in america in that dress. I think it's gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but I guess I wanted a reincarnation of the whole Diana experience. Something that took your breath away when she stepped out of the car and this just didn't do it for me. She needed a bigger bouquet too. I dunno ...just don't get that princess factor, lol, although the dress is gorgeous and so is she. I guess some things never can be recreated or live up to an image you have created in your mind from childhood.

Andrea, I love that you're saying it.

I loved watching the whole ceremony (and still watching ) and I'm surprised how emotional I got about it.

Same here

I am sick of seeing a select few family members being nasty about it all though, they aren't forced to watch it at the end of the day!

Only saw a few pictures so far. I loved the skirt of the dress and the lace was a nice touch, but the cleavage...hmm...wasn't crazy about the whole cut of the bodice part. To me it looked just very...I don't know... uninspired. Very pretty, very classic and all. But nothing to go wow! Nor in a way that it makes simple style look stunning, like Mary or Victoria.

How funny ! My DH just said the same ! Bwahahaha ! I watched the wedding ceremony on French TV. Karl Lagerfeld was invited as a commentator for the royal wedding and he said there was no name for what she had on her head ! LOL

I read that the same designer created all of the royal family's hats, including hers. Obviously he either has it out for her, she has no taste, or both. BLECH!

It was pretty awful, but then, again, I didn't like Victoria Beckham's hat, either.

I think it was perfect for Kate. My opinion, I'm sure won't be popular, but I think it's wonderful that she made this HER day and not something to rival Di's wedding. It saddens me that people keep comparing the two. The world is very different now compared to what it was in Diana's day. Kate was true to herself today and that makes her a very strong woman and good for England, I think.

Slinking back to my corner now.

No, I feel just the same. I didn't watch the wedding itself (turned it on after to see her dress), but I'm glad that she did her own thing. I LOVED her dress, very modern for the day we live in, that's the style these days, the same as Diana's was back in the day.

I've only caught bits and pieces online here. I wasn't going to watch it, but now I can't wait to go home and check out the videos online tonight, lol.

I think Kate's dress was wonderful and so very her. She has that very classic elegant style and I think it's wonderful that she stayed true to herself.

I loved the dress, yes very Grace Kelly style. Not a big old poof thing that took up half of the church, so yeah not Oh WOW but at the same time, How beautiful it looks on her! I do think the bouquet was rather small, that was just my first impression. Seemed a little out of proportion to the dress/event, but then again I didn't have a huge one myself!

I just pray that they will fall more and more in love and be each others best friends and confidants. Diana's wedding was huge and beautiful (I still remember it) but how sad and dysfunctional their marriage was/ended up being. So I'm a huge advocate of putting more effort in the marriage and less in the actual wedding (to a degree that a royal couple can!)

I am very glad that they made their wedding about Kate & William and did it their way. I like that they added little Diana touches here and there but made it about them.

I really can't express enough how much I love that she was simple and elegant. She did her own makeup, the dress wasn't overstated, her hair was perfect. The whole look was signature Kate. I would have like a slightly bigger bouqet but I think it was perfect for her.

I wasn't a fan of Victoria Beckham's hat either. I just didn't get it. But I will say that David Beckham was looking MIGHTY FINE!!!

Did anyone catch the blue hat that looked like a female parts with a rose in the middle? lol another hat I just don't get!

I hated it! I obviously wasn't born yet but from watching reuns I hate it. I think it was fitting for the time I suppose but it was very tacky and way too big and poofy!!

I didn't like it either (but well, that was the 80s style). For me it was like there was first a "beautiful" wedding dress and then the woman in it. Today it was a beautiful woman in simply her wedding dress.

LOL, was that time. As a friend once said, nobody looked good in the 80s! I mean, when I was little, my dream wedding dress was the one from "Three Men and a Little Lady". You can see it here.

Not what I would pick today. Then again, still better than the one from Lady Di, I think.

No, I think so too. It's exactly the kind of wedding dress I don't like - the "cream cake" frilly kind of one, blah. But when I was a kid I didn't think so. Kids have no taste.

I remember seeing Di's dress and LOVING it! Totally princess style and perfect for that day and time. Yes it was 80's, but hello ... it was the 1980's! Now it looks horrible, but at that time it looked amazing. Just like someday people will make fun of Kate's dress even though it looks stunning today. Hehehe.

Very true.

That said, I very much love the Queen's wedding dress and the Queen Mum's as well. :-)

Exactly! I mean it was the 80s...everything was BIG. Hair was big, shoulder pads were big! I look at pictures of people who were married in the 80s, and they all seemed to have big puffy sleeves on their dresses LOL

I am so grateful that I did not get married in the 80's, lol.
And Heidi is right. In 5 or 10 years everyone will probably look back and hate her dress, lol. That's just how fashion goes!

maybe. Maybe not

I think the dress looks pretty timeless.

I still think Carolyn Bessette's dress was stunning.

Simple? YES. But gorgeous and that was? 15? years ago?

I was little when Diana was married and everybody just swooned over that "pefect princess" dress! All those yards of silk! I agree that it looks dated now.

As for the hats, I guess I just don't get them. They all look ridiculous to me -- like some bird flew too low and got tangled in some lumpy, mis-shapen mass of fabric. The only one that didn't make me just want to laugh was Sophie Winkleman's:

Actually, some of the hats got me into the "I need a fancy hat" mood. I like over-the-top hats. Not the one Beatrice had (boy, she must be making headlines with it), but some of the others.

And I almost had it last year, with a posh dress, too (not a wedding dress, mind), but when I came to the shop the collection was already gone. Saved me lots of money and an unnecessary dress and hat. :-)

And wasn't the Queen fabulous in that yellow outfit? I loved it.
