February 22nd- Template Challenge: Let’s Get Nifty!

Hi everyone and good morning!

***UPDATE- HERE IS A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO MAINTAIN THOSE FOLDS IN THE TEMPLATES! WOOHOO***

I’m so excited to be hosting my first PGAD challenge as a designer at Sweet Shoppe, so thank you so much for joining me and playing along on day 22. Todays challenge is a TEMPLATE CHALLENGE: Let’s Get Nifty.

Challenge Criteria:

1-Use a Nifty Pixel template for this challenge and work your magic with it!
2-You are welcome to rotate, flip, turn, reverse, re-size, tilt, or combine, just put your own stamp on it to customise your very own page using one of The Nifty Pixels templates.

I have a question that I am sure some of you more experienced gals can help me with. I am using one of TNP's templates for this challenge but I am having trouble with clipping a paper to an element (in this case a pennant) while still keeping the depth of the crease on the original template. I had the same problem with the textured clouds on this template. I am using PSE 14. I will attach a screenshot for reference. Can anyone help me?

Have you tried changing the blend mode of the paper layer? Test the different ones to see which looks best to you. Maybe “multiply” or, ack, I’m not home with my computer to see the names.

I know others will be able to provide a more detailed response, but I had the same issue using the PAGE files. You cannot just clip a page to those areas, but either adjust the colour/hue, or use the blending modes on your paper to colour it. Play with overlay, soft blend, and colour (or any of the others) and the opacity to keep the depth of the element.

I love the templates, but personally was challenged and disappointed that I couldn't always keep those awesome touches.

In the picture you posted, it's to the upper right where it says "normal." If you have the paper selected (which you do in the picture) you can click on "normal" and check out the different blend options. The opacity slider/chooser is just to the right of it.
