Gone Hybrid: (or if a spaz like me...
can do these albums and they turn out this glorious, well anyone can really).
Now, I have to preface this with the fact that the sight of a glue stick makes me nauseous. I never print out layouts (I will one day). And I cannot understand the insanity that would inspire someone to actually stitch paper (right up there with Van Gogh and the ear thing)!! But here I am the proud owner of a spanking new Crop-a-Dile, a can of Elmer's spray adhesive, and two lovely little chipboard albums (which I don't want to give away now). Thank you SSD for broadening my horizons just a little more (...though I still hate the gluing part). |

Sooo gorgeous! As for now, I'm just hoarding the album pages (ya know, the quick pages that are free w/ purchase of kit) waiting for the day I actually buy the albums and make them. This is inspirational though. I think I may get some albums w/ my Sweet Rewards and get started!

Okay, what is your secret? I've been working on a tag album this week and ended up throwing it all out last night in frustration. I used my Xyron to put adhesive on the layouts and put them on the tags with no problems but then I had extra paper on all sides that was too small to cut and then when I tried to file it, it just caused the edges to get torn but not really come off. I couldn't get the paper cut out cleanly from the hole. Then to top it all off, I put a layer of Mod Podge on top to seal it....and when I went back to check on it 10 minutes later, all of the pages were coming off of the album and wrinkling up. That's when I ended up throwing the whole thing out.
So what did I do wrong?? Helen

Ack! You musta been in a great mood last night
I used Elmers' spray adhesive on the layouts (don't know if that is a scrap-acceptable substance, but it works well, when not gumming up the nozzle) and let them dry for an hour or so. I did my best to trim the excess with my sissors then used some sandpaper I found in mu hubby's stash (all purpose 150 grit). Used chalk ink on the edges and that's it. I haven't sealed them and they are standing up to the wear and tear of my admiring hoards very well so far (frankly Mod Podge scares me- I know I'll mess it up). Don't give up. |
