You could get the Kindle app for your iPad & use the book on both devices!

I don't actually have a Kindle, just the iPad Kindle app. (<3 it!!) I think there were extras in the app that aren't there in the Kindle version. I don't remember what they are now, although I think one may have been the ability to set timers.

Don't know if this helps you for the future but Amazon does accept US checking account and gift cards (which you can purchase at many major drug stores).
