Thumbs down stupid people!

So, I got an email this morning from a man who we bought our Old English Sheepdog from a couple years ago...
it said he was stuck in London after knee surgery and lost his wallet, needed help and was wondering if we could loan him $2,500. I replied that I thought he may have accidentally sent it to me instead of someone else (maybe listed next to me on his mailing list)... got a reply of "no, it was meant for you"..

so we looked up their phone number and gave them a call and it wasn't them... someone hacked into his account and emailed everyone on his mailing list... turns out he did have knee surgery, though- so the hacker had read his emails and made up a sob-story to send to everyone.

Can you believe that?! Scary! Just the times we live in, I guess!
I hope no one sent the hacker any money! I feel so sorry for the couple we got our dog from, especially if someone thought it was really him and did "help him out"! Sheesh!!!

This happened to one of our friends. Luckily we knew from the date stamp on it that it couldn't possibly be her as she doesn't email on Saturdays ever. We called her immediately and she had received a ton of phone calls from people telling her that her email had been hacked.

I hear it happens a lot with hotmail.

Yep, a friend of mine had her FB account hacked and the hackers were on the messenger there trying to solicit the money.

WOW!!! How niavive am I ~ That would probably totally work on me - not that I would loan some random stranger 2500, but having a friend in a strange place ... with all my friends being military sure! WOW - good to know!!!!
