Default Sign when you know your child is addicted to Minecraft is:

You can tell your child is addicted to Minecraft when you have to uninstall it to fix a bug and he starts to cry. I'm trying hard to not bust up laughing. Poor guy.

Yup. I hear you! I have two very obsessed kids when it comes to Minecraft. They plan on the computer, they play on the tablets and they plan on their iPods. They meet up with friends to play together (online) and will spend hours talking about Minecraft. I'm clueless.

Another one over here... Our school offers after school enrichment program. One of the offered activities is Minecraft Programming class. Of course my daughter asked to be signed up for this class.

My brother (13) really wanted to be able to play the mods, and couldn't on the console, I guess? So he kept trying to save up for a gaming computer. My boyfriend built one (at my parents' commission, basically) for him, and he's been on it pretty much non-stop since Christmas (or, anytime he isn't doing school). He was playing mods and everything, then finally begged my boyfriend to help him set up his own server so he can play with friends.

It's a non-stop thing around here.

Question...how age appropriate is Minecraft? My son wants to play but he is 8. I don't let him play violent games (one of his friends plays "Call of Duty" and I don't think he could handle that and don't really think that's appropriate for my 8 year old anyway...he has nightmares still from "Monster House") but I've never played this and I'm not sure of the age limit.

Andrea,
My son is 7 soon to be 8 in about two weeks. Minecraft is basically online version of legos it inspires creativity. It gets my son's mind thinking what to build next. They have creative mode where you can just build away and survival mode is you have to get supplies on your own in game like if you needed wood you would have to go chop some trees or needed coal you would have to mine for it, I dont find it a violent game at all. If you have any questions feel free to PM me

umm Mr Mas's obsession is bad. He came home from school and didn't even say Hello to me and went straight to the laptop. I was like OH***N intervention time!!
I honestly did tell him my feelings were hurt, then went on to remind him how important homework, chores, dinner are and then minecraft! sighhhhh

Mary, That is sounds like my son had to put a stop to that.
So he and I came up with an agreement. I tell him he gets it one hour after school with a snack. Then he does his homework, helps me with what ever I need help with around the house, then some non minecraft time like playing with his other fun stuff (like his trains or hot wheels) then he has dinner then has a shower if needed then he can decide if he wants to play minecraft 30 minutes before bed.
