Default Burger Toppings

As a vegetarian, I have never really paid attention to burger toppings, but I have recently discovered black bean burgers. They are great, but I have no idea what to put on them. I have just been putting on salsa, but I am guessing there are lots more great things to put on. So what do you like?

My typical is lettuce, tomato, bacon, pickles, halepenos(thanks to living in El Paso), and ketup and mayo. I like my toppings.

I'm pretty plain... I prefer cheese and bacon on mine most of the time. Pineapple and bbq sauce is delicious if I'm feeling fancy.

I keep meaning to try black bean burgers.

On my burgers I like either swiss cheese and mushrooms (sometimes add bacon, typically turkey bacon) or ketchup and pickles with yellow American cheese. Gotta have cheese.

I'm pretty typical when it comes to burgers I think....cheddar cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce, pickle, ketchup, mayo and mustard. I also like sauteed mushrooms and onions and provolone (not a swiss cheese fan) but if I do that I don't like the lettuce and tomato and the other stuff on it.

I'm a vegetarian, too. I don't eat veggie burgers often, but Red Robin has one topped with a pineapple ring, teriyaki sauce, and cheese. So good! I usually get it wrapped in lettuce rather than on a roll. (And now I'm craving one and may need to try to make my own version tomorrow.)

Oh, Rachel, is a soy burger or black bean? That sounds good. I might have to try that. And, Traci, I want to try that mayo. (I don't like eggs much either though)

Now I really want to try a burger with an egg on it.
My absolutely favorite when we're out is onion strings, BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato.

I'm a vegetarian too and I make a homemade black bean cake/burger and a homemade mango salsa to go on top. I actually prefer them without a bun and just pile on the mango salsa. It has red onion, mango, red bell pepper, jalapeno, cilantro, and some lime juice.

Well we have recently started counting calories and so we are trying to find tasty yet healthy things for our chicken burgers....now some of these might not work for you but I'll post them anyways since they might help someone else!!!

Avocado
real leaf lettuce
Laughing Cow garlic & Herb cheese (ten times better the mayo and a whole lot healthier!!! )
Grilled Porta Bella Mushrooms
Grilled tomatoes
grilled pineapple
turkey bacon

I just recently bought some pepperoni in the meatless section of our produce area and it wasn't too bad!!! That will you salsa would help flavor it up!! Also don't forget other beans!!! We love white bean burgers (made with great northern beans), instead of egg we add egg beaters southwerstern flavor and it's delicious!!!! Here is the recipe I use!!!

On a black bean burger my favorite toppings are guacamole with a squeeze of lime or fresh mango (or pineapple) salsa. Mmmm....

Mustard. Usually that's it, but sometimes in the summer I enjoy mustard and lettuce, onion, tomato. But most often just mustard

mustard, pickles, tomato

or

mayo/catsup/pickle relish mix (lots of places call this their "special sauce" ) and tomato

or

bacon, tomato, avocado

Depends on my mood! And it's always either wrapped in lettuce leaves, or else just eaten as a patty with the toppings, b/c I don't eat gluten unless I want a 2-day headache.

It's been a while since we were there, but I think it's like a Gardenburger (so more of a vegetable patty with grains and soy).
