Default Text paths

Just curious...

do you use the text paths that come with the templates? I always try, but inevitably I have an element or two (like a flower or ribbon) that is on top of the text path, so I end up having to tweak the text manually. Since I use PSE it always involves left/right justifing text, adding spaces (even tweaking the size of the spaces between the words)

Here's an example. I didn't want the text under that doodle sticker!

How about you?

I almost always start with them, then tweak them to how I need them. I should learn how to create my own one of these days, lol

Depends on the page and the design. More often than not, I tweak. I would love to learn how to do make my own someday.

It depends which is easier on the layout. Sometimes I tweak and sometimes I make my own. It's super-easy to make a text path in PS. (1) Make a new layer. (2) Choose the pen tool and draw a closed path where you want your text. You can also do it with the shapes, just make sure "paths" is selected (the picture with the four connected dots and the pen inside) on the top bar. (3) Click on the text tool. (4) If you're trying to fill your shape with text, then click inside the shape (you'll see the cursor change); if you're trying to type on the outside of the path then click on the path and start typing.

I hope that made sense; I probably should have used a screenshot, but was too lazy to upload one.

You're talking about PS and not PSE, right? Anyone have any tips for PSE8?

Thanks!

I find myself having to "tweak" fairly often. Seems like I always have to change something up that makes the path not work quite right . . . and since I use PSE, I can't create my own. But so far I've been able to manage.

I tweak mine fairly often - or just delete them altogether and start over on my own. I haven't perfected making my own text paths yet - it's something I really need to work on!

I tweak the text or sometimes move the element so the text can be seen. I use PSE also so I can't create my own text paths either.
