Default Wow! Local news story...

I was just sitting here watching my local news and am shocked at this story. Friday they had a clip about a missing teen from our town (very small town) and gave a description of her car etc. Well, apparently she ran off the road under a bridge less than half a mile from my house! And the amazing thing is that it happened Friday morning and they didn't find her until yesterday!! And the most unbelievable to me is that Sunday morning a lady on her way to church, saw the car and recognized it from the news clip and called the sheriff's office to go check it out...well apparently they didn't even go look and the poor girl was there ANOTHER night!! The lady who saw the car and called it in went back Monday morning to see if it was still there and that's when she found her. Amazingly the girl was alive..I know she had broken both her legs but I'm not sure what all else was wrong with her...the worst part of this is that poor girl was in that car for 3 days and nights...and it has been COLD this week..it got down to the upper 20's Sunday night. It just breaks my heart that she was there suffering through all of that...I'm not sure if she was conscious or what but how terrified she must have been if she was!

I have a feeling the sheriff's dept has some explaining to do. I actually drove right over that bridge 2-3 times over the weekend. I guess it was in a spot not too visible from the road...it just amazed me when i saw that clip.

Makes you wonder what the sheriff's dept was doing doesn't it, to let a report like that go with no follow up at all until asked, again, days later.

Oh my gosh that poor girl! I hope she fully recovers after that ordeal. But if I were her family I would be seriously pissed at the sheriff's dept. for not following up on that lead sooner!!

When I flipped my van back in January, I went down into a ditch, not visable from the road. I was lucky that I wasn't injured so I was able to crawl out a broken window. So I know how helpless I felt, but at least I was able to get out.

Poor girl! I wonder what the Sheriff's dept was up to? Geez!

Oh goodness...wow...well I'm SO glad that she survived those three days and nights!! That is just crazy that they did not check out the car report...they will for sure have some explaining to do...and probably a law suit on their hands from the parents of the teen!

Ive read stories like this here in FLorida and other places. It really makes a good case for those lo-jacks on cars. She could have been found in a really short period of time if the car had that. or even if she had a cell phone Id think they could figure out a general area to search. Did they not have anyone searching for her and have a general idea of where she would be?

Well I'm glad she was found safely but I feel so bad that the sheriff didn't check out that report and find her sooner.

That is totally insane for the cop shop to neglect their duty in that manner.

Thank goodness she had an angel.

I'm glad they were able to find her & get her to help.

Seriously though, heads should be rolling down at the Sheriffs office.

They had some more info this morning on the news...apparently the sheriff's dept did go check out the scene but claim they didn't see the car..it was half submerged in the creek and not visible from the road...but the lady saw it obviously so I don't know how they didn't...besides..shouldn't they have climbed down there and looked?! Crazy stuff...they didn't have any update on the girl's condition.

What's really sad about this is that this was not a back road..this is under a bridge on a major highway less than a mile from my house. I bet hundreds of people drove right past her for 3 whole days including myself. It just makes me so sad to know that she was in that car suffering those cold cold nights while I was just half a mile away ya know? She has to be traumatized from the experience.

It's crazy, but when my van flipped, you could not see it from the road, and it would have been a long time before I had gotten help, if I had not been able to get out myself.

Poor thing, I'm so sad for her, how scary.
