We dont need wild animals to do that - our pet does it for us instead - cushions, towels, terracotta pots, basketballs etc. etc etc. If you catch one I believe they make great hats - tongue in cheek guys for all those animal activists!!

Wonder how you get on the good side of a racoon? Best of luck with that Melissa - clearing the back yard ofanything chewable might be a good idea!

I would love to see a real hedgehog. I heard they are adorable!

Raccoons are really smart animals. I hope its bad mood passes! You may want to check around your house or ask animal control to check it for you to make sure they are not setting up residence! My neighbors in my court have had families of raccoons move in. They are really hard to get rid of once they settle in! Cute for me, because they just visit, but a pain for them.

Another piece of advice- never accidentally lock an angry racoon in your van over night. He could do over $1000 worth of damage. But if you do, call the insurance company because fortunately you might be covered. Don't ask how I know!

Racoons are always RUDE-They found a way to get above our back porch one time and we started trapping them...trapped 7 one Spring! Man, they were pissed, even came so far as to come into our house one time when Landen left the back door open-didn't make it any further than the kitchen before Scott saw it and chased it out-but those critters are not nice at all!

First, that made me giggle.
Second, I don't know how in the world you can get him to stop being such a jerk. But you should def call around and see if there's anything you can do.

Yeah, it happened a few years ago. One of the kids got carsick on the way to a weekend at the state park. We cleaned up when we got there and left the door open to air it out. DH went out before we went to bed and closed it up, but unbeknownst to him the racoon was already in there! He chewed the window and door seals and the ceiling lining trying to get out (or just getting even!) Funny thing is when we opened the van to get in the next morning, he was sound asleep in a car seat and had to be poked out with a broom handle. At least the insurance agent didn't laugh at us!

No way!! that's so funny! (ummm...i hope you laugh about it now).

I found a dog wandering the neighborhood once, I put him in the backyard and sent out an e-mail to the neighborhood to see who owned him. In one night in our back yard, he chewed up all the pillow and cushions from our deck furniture. Grr. That's what I got for doing a good deed

Yeah, we laugh about it now -it's one of the kids' favorites stories and they tell everyone whenever someone mentions racoons (and it made a cute scrapbook page, LOL!)
