Default Okay...can I see..

some scrappers who mainly use patterned paper? I am patterned illiterate - I can use them as accents, but I want to see people who use them as like the main background page. I can't seem to use them without it looking really busy!

So...who are the masters of patterned papers?

I la la love patterns and use them a LOT

There's a lot more in my gallery...maybe it's because I know how much time we spend on perfecting these patterns that I want to use them all? LOL!

These are all fantastic! I, too, have issues using patterned papers. I always think they're gorgeous, but don't know what to do with them.

But I also noticed that my closet has a lot of solid colors in it too. Maybe I'm just pattern-phobic

I'm pattern-phobic, too.

I sometimes try one, then go and find a plain paper and use that instead.

I don't use them a ton but here's some layouts I've done. Sometimes if I want a print but the patterns are too bold, I'll blend a pattern with a solid so it's more subtle.

Check out Lynnette's gallery for some great pattern usage! She uses solids for bg's most of the time it seems but she can do amazing things with patterns...

I'm pattern-phobic, too. The few patterned items I have get admired hanging on the hanger, but almost never worn. I'll be watching this thread for more inspiration.

I'm the same as you Sara...I tend to go for the plainer backgrounds I guess I've got to learn to embrace the patterned paper too especially after seeing all these beautiful layouts

I love this trick! Otherwise, I have to force myself to use more than one or two patterns.

Thanks for the mention, Cindy and Crystal. Makes me feel all warm and cozy inside!

Here are a few of my faves from my gallery:

My advice would be not to try to use a bunch of pp if you go with a bold bg; look for a way to give your eye a resting place. La's Layered Up in You: Brackets are a good way to do that.

Here are some from my faves:

Totally agree with that. That's why I tend to use solid backgrounds because I usually have enough pattern paper going on already.

Just had to stop in to say all the layouts are wonderful!!!

ETA-most of mine have simpler backgrounds. Heck my wardrobe is similar.

I'm crazy for pattern papers. I always look for pattern papers first when starting a page, then I'd look for plain papers. Here's some of my layouts using pattern papers as background:
