Default Point and Shoot Camera

Looking to buy a new point and shoot, by Nikon is just to heavy to carry around....who can recommend the best for under $300??

P.S. Saw a Canon SD990- IS 14.7 megapixel for $399, so working on hubby, but just in case he won't go for it, need cheaper options..LOL

I have a Canon Powershot SD750- bought it to keep my purse instead of "my good camera", and now I end up using it more than anything! My husband bought it so I know it was under $300... Check out my gallery to see how the pics look (I'm NO photographer so they aren't great, but quality for a point and shoot is good).

I have a Cannon PowerShot SD 600 and that's mostly what I use. I do have a Cannon G2 or something like that, but I use the point & shoot all the time. I shoot in manual, large photos. With my 1 GB card I can get close to 500 photos on there.

Not a photographer nor do I play one on TV, but I love my camera & with photo filters, I can get the shots I love. I do love love love how it takes photos outside. I think I get fabulous photos straight from the camera outside. Inside - eh.

I bought a Canon Powershot SD990 IS to use as my "purse camera" and I love it! (It also has 14.7 MP and it costs about $300!)

Well....there seems to be a lot of us that have the Canon P&S!

Mine is a Canon Powershot SD 790 IS. It takes amazing photos and I love using it for impromtu movies too, but the dial on it (to switch between modes) is a PITA!! It's kind of stuck right now and it really difficult to manuever. I'm not sure if they've fixed that, or if there is a newer one without that dial. I wouldn't get it again because of that one thing. Other than that, I love it!

I forgot- I don't have a camcorder that works anymore, and I use the video feature often. They are also really good quality considering it's made for still shots.

I also have the Canon Powershot SD990. I've had it about 3 weeks now, and I really do like it and I love having a decent small camera in my purse. It does have a little shutter delay compared to a DSLR, but I think all of them do. The picture quality is great though!

My dd had a Sony Cybershot and it takes really good pics, but the flash is sooooooooo slow....lol.....the subject moves before the picture is taken....I'm looking for something to take pics inside mainly because even my Nikon D40x doesn't do those well....I think I need a better lens/flash?????

Before I got my Nikon D40, I had a Canon S3IS as well, and I was pretty happy with it.

What about a Sony H10? The flash on it is amazing - and fast!

Well I found a camera....more than my budget, but does anything ever not go over budget? lol

I got the Canon SX200IS....then I did a comparison shoot with my Nikon D40X, both on auto for a fair comparison.....let me tell you it is VERY close...the Nikon is a tad bit sharper, but the Canon blows it out of the water on the zoom (has a 12x) and night shots. One day I'll learn how to use my Nikon and then maybe not, but the Canon is more dependable in night shots for sure.

Love the Canon...it has some cool features that I need to learn to use and can't wait...thank you for all of your input!
