Default Anyone else notice Amazon is hicking their prices!?!?

So the first week of November I ordered 4 things from amazon, 3 Christmas gifts and a gift for my son's birthday (Nov 23rd). For some odd reason I just checked the links and they have all gone up...not just a buck or two but by like $50 bucks!!!!

I got him the Fisher-Price Imaginext Adventures Pirate Ship for $23.99 ...it is now priced $76.95 How freaking crazy it THAT!!!! I mean it's cute but.....it's not $77 bucks cute!!!

Then we got DD the Littlest Pet Shop Pet Clubhouse and I paid $19.99 for it....it's now up to $62.99 It's more expensive then the very sought after Littlest Pet Shop Fitness Club (which BTW I only paid $34.99 for and it's only gone up to like $41 now)!!!!

Lastly we got DS the Crayola Treasure Adventures Nintendo DS game and I paid $17.99 for it and it's gone up to $26.23...not as big a jump but at least that one I can understand...I couldn't find it anywhere but at amazon...the other two items I just saw at Wal Mart like 2 days ago and they were reasonably priced ($38 for the pirate ship and $19.99 for the Clubhouse).

I don't buy a lot from Amazon but do they do this a lot?? The closer it gets to Christmas the higher the prices go!?!? It's just crazy and it' almost seems like a shady/crappy way to do business!!

That seems really weird to me. I always buy from Amazon during the holidays and I've never noticed an increase like that. I was just headed over there now to buy stuff for Jordan actually. I'll have to check it out and see if the stuff I want has gone up or not.

That's crazy! I've never noticed either!

The thing I thought though... is that they have a lot of 3rd party sellers that are usually more expensive than Amazon. Maybe Amazon went out of stock with those items and so the third party people hiked their prices and it costs more.

It doesn't look like those are the ones "fulfilled by amazon" or whatever that qualify for free shipping. So unless you bought from a third party seller, I'm guessing that's what happened!

none of those that you linked to are actually sold by amazon. I've noticed this a lot.. that the other peeps are majorly hiking their prices. yet another reason I ONLY buy products shipped/sold by amazon.

yep when 3rd party sellers are the only ones with the goods the jack them up. It's not Amazon's doing though which is good..just unfortunate for the people that are really looking for those items.

Target and Walmart online are both out of the clubhouse..kmart has it for $25 on their site though with free shipping over $29. Hope people check other places before buying from 3rd party vendors on Amazon

Another example of the 3rd party thing: Sorry Sliders was $48 the other day. I went to Walmart and got it for $15.

I got the pirate ship when it was on sale for my nephew and it was a HUGE hit! The no hassle packaging is awesome!

I wanted to buy myself a few christmas cds this year - so I thought I'd pick up the new Casting Crowns album. I put it in my shopping cart at Amazon.ca 9.99. Three days later I went back to add a few other items. I was notified that the price of the cd had increased. It was now 18.99.

The pirate ship that is actually sold by Amazon is $37. I wish more of the stuff came in the frustration free packaging. I hate the packaging on toys now.

When I was on amazon the other day I noticed a link to a thread in their forums about 3rd party sellers hiking their prices. It looked like a few unscrupulous sellers were posting products for really low prices, then claiming it was a mistake and trying to change the price after the people had already ordered.
