Default my kids and hubby loved this recipe

I found this recipe the other day online and thought that it sounded really easy to do and tried it out. It had just a little to much chocolate for me but the kids and hubby all loved it. They have all requested me to make it again very soon. Best part about it is there is no baking requred and it is really simple to make. The only thing I did differently is I completely coated the peanut butter balls with chocolate. We are going to make more when it gets closer to christmas and give them to friends and family with a little recipe card that I make up to go with it. I think for 5 dozen I spent like 7 or 8 dollars total?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 cups creamy peanut butter, (not all-natural)
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine, softened
3 3/4 cups (16-oz. box) powdered sugar
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
2 tablespoons vegetable shortening

Directions:
LINE baking sheets with wax paper.

BEAT peanut butter and butter in large mixer bowl until creamy. Beat in powdered sugar until mixture holds together and is moistened. Shape into 1-inch balls; place on prepared baking sheets. Freeze for 1 hour.

MELT morsels and shortening in medium, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 1 minute; STIR. Morsels may retain some of their shape. If necessary, microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until melted.

DIP peanut butter centers into melted chocolate using a toothpick, leaving a small portion of the center uncovered. Shake off excess chocolate and scrape bottom of candy on side of bowl. Return to baking sheets; refrigerate until chocolate is set. Store in covered container in refrigerator.

next time I think Im going to use white chocolate and drizzle regular chocolate across them and vice versa to make them a little more varied. I might also try them with peanut butter chips instead of semi-sweet chocolate so it would be all peanut butter.

Yep...Buckeyes...YUMMY...You can add Rice Krispies to the peanut butter mixture too and it is good that way...I love them...We added paraffin wax to the choc chips at our house too.

We used to make these EVERY single year around Christmas. If you want a variation you can also add some rice crispies in the mix.

Yea they are buckeyes. I did not have the parafin wax so I looked for a recipe which did not need it. It still tastes about the same though as I had it with the wax added like two years ago
