Default Currently Reading - May 2016

What did you read in May?
Link us up. If you liked the book let us know and I'll put it in my Amazon book queue. If I goes on sale I will report back

10 Ultimate Truths Girls should Know!! Loved it and talked to my girls about it. The book talks about everything from boys, appropriate clothing, sex, kindness, etc. AMAZING! Loved Truth #7: Chasing boys doesn't make you cool. It makes you a nuisance.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian - Four Stars! Great book. National Book Award Winner.

Dead End in Norvelt - Five Stars. I would find myself laughing right out loud! Great read. Newberry Award Winner.

Circus Mirandus - Three Stars. I liked the ending and the underlying story. That's about it.

Cinder - Four Stars! I can't believe I waited so long to read this! Just loved it!

The Heir - 2 stars. Didn't like it all that much and I loved the first three!

May was such a crazy, busy month that I only managed one (Even though it was a big one! ). It started out really strong, but by the end, I was so over it.

Next up is this one:

I'm really interested in checking out the first one on your list, Kjersti!

Kjersti, what age girls would you say that 10 Ultimate Truths is good for?

Everything but the sex chapter (and it was only a few pages) could be applied to a 12 year old!
It deals with everything they are dealing with in high school/middle school.....popularity, confidence, their reputation, interacting with boys, image, inner beauty, etc. You could probably read the majority of with your girls....and save that chapter until age 14.

I found an overview on the author's blog:

Thanks for the link! My girls are only 10 and will be starting Jr. High after the summer. (Still considering homeschool for the rest of the time we're here) Their friends don't act or talk like 10/11 year olds!! The tween years scare me lol.
