ACK my gallbladder
I've been having some pain at night and the dr thinks it's my gallbladder. I have to call a surgeon Monday and find out what to do next.
I am not amused, I just now got in good enough shape to play soccer without dying. I'd imagine getting surgery would slow down my work outs considerably? LOL Ugh. Wish me luck. |

I've had my gall bladder out. If you can have it done via laprascopy the recovery time is really quite short, you should only lose a weekend or so from working out all together and probably within a week you'll be back at full capacity. Seriously - it's so much better to get it out then to deal with the pain!

I had my gall bladder out a couple years back. I had it out on a Wednesday and was feeling pretty normal by Monday (I had a 7 week old baby, so 'normal' is relative), though it would be another week before I was back at the gym.

Missing a couple games would not be the end of the world, but missing the entire season might be.

Hope that you get it resolved really soon...I was having some pain that I was pretty sure was my gallbladder but the "attacks" were over before I got to the ER so we can't be sure. I'm just waiting for another one...lol...

I feel your pain, and that is some major pain, isn't it? I had a baby in January, and almost immediately I started having gallbladder attacks. I had never experienced it before then, but my pregnancy gave me gallstones. I had my gallbladder out in April and it was a piece of cake. The pain of the surgery was nothing compared to the pain of an attack.
Good luck! |

Oh no, poor you I had mine out 2 years ago but had loads of complications before hand and some afterwards too and even with keyhole surgery I was out of action for quite a while and off work for 12 weeks. I hope the medics get you sorted soon.

Gallbladder surgery was the fastest recovery ever for me.. and I have had 2 knee surgeries, appendix and birthed two children. Like 3 days, maybe. It's soooooooo worth it too. you'll feel so much better.
the only thing, you REALLY have to watch what you eat after. if you eat something with a lot of fat in it, you'll be spending a lot of time in the bathroom. Sort of like those alli pills, if you get my drift. And I love and adore cheese, so I have issues from time to time. LOL

I had mine out about 9 years ago when my youngest was only 2 months old. I was only out of work for one week. Though I felt well enough after 4 days to drive for an hour to go shopping and visit my folks
Well worth the minor pain for a week to not have the attacks. since my gallbladder was so full of stones and was basically non functioning... I don't have much of an issue with eating fatty foods, but a few of my friends have had that problem after surgery

I had my GB out about a year ago. Recovery time isn't too long - and trust me, it's worth having the surgery done!!
I waited too long and was having GB "attacks" every night regardless of what I ate (or didn't eat!) I ended up in the ER waiting for a surgeon to do the procedure. If they can't schedule your surgery for awhile, try avoiding the "typical" offender foods - anything greasy or fried, leafy greans, all spicy foods, dairy items... I'm sure the surgeon will tell you all of that! Good luck - I hope you can get it taken care of!!

My sister had the surgery, too, and it was and easy and speedy recovery for her. She only wishes she had done it sooner as she was MISERABLE with the attacks. Prayers the docs can positively identify the problem and take care of it without any complications!! |
