Brownies
Okay gals. I'm stuck at home with sick kids and no computer. Brownies are in order.
I need a really yummy, but basic, recipe. I can't run to the store for ingredients, but I have the basics here. Help a girl out.

Oh, you all are SO helpful!!!
Unfortunately, the only "homemade" brownies I've made are THESE by Pioneer Woman... and they include a box of german chocolate cake mix!!! smh But, whilst browsing Google I found these and they look good: http://tastykitchen.com/recipes/dess...basic-brownie/ Tasty Kitchen has some great recipes I've tried before, so I would think these brownies would be awesome. |

I will say, when I have been home with a chocolate craving with no brownie mixes on hand I usually make a microwave chocolate mug cake. There's a lot of versions of the recipe out there... I have one printed out that is similar to this one:

aha! I just remembered my mom wrote it out for me when we moved! This is how we make them.
2 c sugar 1 c flour 1 1/2 sticks butter 1 tsp vanilla 4 oz. baker's chocolate 3 eggs melt butter and chocolate in microwave for one minute. stir. then continue adding 30 seconds and stirring until melted. do NOT exceed 2 minutes. combine all ingredients. do NOT over-stir unless you want them cake-y. (we prefer gooey ones, and JUST stir until combined) line your pan with foil and then grease the foil. bake at 350 for 35 minutes

Now I think I need to make more than one batch so I can try more than one recipe. AND, I need to make a single serving in a mug too. Lol.

DH makes these:

they are like the easiest thing to make and one of the first things my mom teaches us to make on our own. another fun thing to do is add the heath bar bits (you get them by chocolate chips) to it. BEST STUFF EVER. lol

Here's mine:
6 Tbs. Cocoa powder 1/3 cup plus 2 Tbs oil OR melted butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 3/4 cup flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Grease 8x8 pan. Mix everything all at once, no need to do things separately. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Double recipe for lasagna size pan. Last edited by mariewilcox; 11-12-2013 at 12:32 PM. |

So, if I was gonna add nuts to one of these recipes, how much should I add? Like 1/2 a cup?

That sounds about right Lydia. I coat mine with a little flour or cocoa powder before mixing in so they don't sink to the bottom.
