Default How do YOU like to connect with designers?

Doing some brainstorming and it had me thinking, how do YOU like to connect and stay in the know with designers?

A combinatin of all...
During the week, I mostly like and check FB, but I LOVE waking up on Saturday morning and finding some newsletter in my mailbox. I start the day with a cup of coffee and discovering what that weeks new releases are.

I use mainly social media to keep up with things but also enjoy reading the designers' newsletters as well.

For me it's Facebook or Instagram and that's it. I have to be honest and say that I just delete the newsletters without even reading them... I read so many emails for work on a daily basis that I loathe emails for much else.

I rarely read blogs because for me they become a time suck and before I know it I've wasted an inordinate amount of time doing absolutely nothing, so yeah, I just stay away from blogs

So only get my designer news from my FB feed and Instragram. If it doesn't make it to my feed then I'm clueless.

Thank you all so much for responding! I appreciate all the feedback. Sometimes you just don't know what everyone likes or has time for. This is all very helpful!

On Instagram, what do you like to see from designers? Their personal life, a screenshot of work in progress, ads, layouts? I know some of my CT girls said that a lot of ads on IG turns them off. How do you feel about it? Thanks for humoring me with these questions.

I like a mix of personal/business. Unless it's an acct specifically for business, I am following YOU as a person, kwim? So a mix is perfect. Like, I follow SSD and I know it's going to be layouts, kits, ads. I don't expect more.

Original post answer...
I use a mix of all to stay up to date with designers.

Most of them!

I follow FB and Instagram for most of my fave designers. I also follow their Pinterest boards if they have them.

I used to follow on Twitter, but I don't bother anymore. I like the visual nature of Instagram more.

I subscribe to designer blogs via the Feedly reader service. I save articles to Pocket whenever there's a particularly good tutorial or inspirational article.

I also subscribe to most newsletters. I like the Gmail feature where promos are separated out. Then I can scan them all at a glance and decide which ones I want to shop later.

I ticked other as I use a combination of FB, newsletters, the 'Sweet Stuff from the Shoppe' thread in the Forum and very occasionally blogs. I like seeing 'sneak peaks' of upcoming releases during the week - either the kit or LOs - that's usually FB or the forum thread. I also check out the forum thread (which I know is often the same as designers' newsletters) to see new products, even though I also always check out the New Releases when they hit the Shoppe.

I don't have time to be checking out much more than that.

Nowadays, it's mainly newsletter & store forums for me.
Some blogs (especially wordpress & blogspot) and facebook are blocked here in China, so, that explains why those two are not in my options...
As to IG, I love seeing a mix of personal life and business (eg sale or new release) in your account if I'm following you, unless it's a strictly business account.

I said other, and for me that's a combination of newsletters and IG. I prefer IG accounts to be a majority of scrapelated stuff, but some personal content is fine, too. My favorite things to see on IG are layouts (CT new releases, gallery highlights, etc.) but I also like sneak peaks, new releases, and info about tutorials and blog content.

I'm another who wishes the digi community hadn't migrated to FB. I prefer IG (and forums) for scrappy stuff and mostly use FB to connect with people I know IRL. Between privacy concerns and how much of a time suck it is, I limit my scrapelated FB activity to participating in a few private CT forums and seeing updates from SSD. (But I don't like or comment on those because of the privacy thing. I wish FB didn't require full names for everything. )

All great feedback! I am so happy you are all taking the time to join in the conversation. Thank you all!

I do agree it would be great to bring a lot back to the forums! I remember when I first started scrapping here in 2008 how much fun it was to hangout.

I chose other because I do a combination. I do not do Facebook so I miss anything there. The forum here at the Sweet Shoppe is my main hangout for digiscrapping. I subscribe to some blogs of the designers here. I don't always read the WHOLE newsletter that is sent (from Sweet Shoppe and designers) but I often skim it.

I like tutorials. Traci has a lot of tutorials.

I love a sale. I like it when a designer points out which kits are in Bargain Bites in her newsletter.

All of the above are fine - I don't mind ads because I might not otherwise know about what the ad is for since I don't read newsletters

I prefer checking into the forum. Although, I do like to see updates from designers on fb. I absolutely love the in the works Wed on the blog. Usually the only day I don't miss checking it out. Even when I can't buy, it gets me excited to see all the early peeks and certain ones get stuck in my head Lol, it's exciting.

As far as keeping up with fave designers, I don't need a fb update or ad or newsletter. I know where and when they release and I check the store pretty simple!

That's a nice thread Becca and girls!
I like newsletter from my favorite designers and I also love seeing SSD newsletter too! Like, care-fully even knowing what will be there! LOL
I also like facebook because I feel that's everything is there in one place... but it's been weird there... I just hate facebook (SO many) changes, we're missing the feed from some people we like! Facebook is totally bipolar! lol

I mainly check facebook. I do see the new releases here in the forum and I also get newsletters. Mostly though I just look at SSD's newsletter to see the new releases. I do check Designer's facebook pages weekly

For me it's FB, IG and Pinterest beacuse I like to be able to quickly browse visual content.

I used to read lots of blogs but I just don't have the time anymore and Newsletters get deleted unead.

I picked other because I prefer to get my news from the ssd forums. I try to minimize time on fb so I feel like I've missed out on a lot over the last few years. I'd wouldn't be sad at all if fb went away forever. It feels like the forums are quieter since fb got busier and that makes me sad.
