Default need sugar cookie help

my mil likes the semi-crunchy type sugar cookies. i like the lofthouse kind. she wants sugar cookies for x-mas. she doesn't bake much and can't make them herself. does anyone have a good semi-crunchy/crunchy sugar cookie recipe they can share with me?

Do you mean crunchy like a butter cookie or shortbread cookie?

This is what I use...it's from Martha Stewart:

The key is rolling out the dough very thin (no more than 1/4 inch) and make sure that you chill it before cutting out and then again before putting it in the oven. It should be quite cold when you put it in the oven, not room temperature.

Definitely chill it and use butter, butter makes them not as puffy as shortening and more of a crisp texture. Just make sure to chill in the fridge not the freezer because butter gets too hard there.

I've been making cookies for the Airmen this last week so I'm all about chillin' right now! 14 dozen baby!

And it needs to be real unsalted butter. You cannot use margarine and get the same results.
