Thumbs down wwyd....BAD food

Ok so we just left this little resturant in our town that looked cute and let me tell you...I like Denny's so i'm no food snob...and this food was AWFUL. I ordered a chef salad and it came with mushrooms, onions, CANNED green beans, and some of the normal chef salad stuff. It was not a chef salad for one thing and it was nasty for another. On the menu it said "comes with fresh veggies" not an ingredients list.

Patrick ordered a patty melt medium well and it was a red burger sandwiched between two soggy pieces of bread... Just nasty.

So the question is...what would you have done? Left and told them it was gross? Sent it back? Shut up and ate it?

Girl, without a doubt you complain. Either ask for the manager or fill out one of those customer service cards and mail it in.
The few times we've done it has worked and we got free meals out of them, lol.

Yeah, if it was that bad, I would definitely complain to management. There's almost nothing worse than spending money on a terrible meal.

I would have left and never looked back. I don't complain unless I've already eaten as I don't want any surprises in my food!

Oh man, I'm gagging @ canned green beans on a salad! *vom*

I would have asked to speak with the manager or whomever was in charge to let them know exactly how it is.

Ewww that's nasty sounding (yuck to canned green beans period)

I'd definitely have complained to the management...told them the food was inedible and refused to pay for something that was not as the menu described.

If it was just me, I'd give up and leave. If Jordan was there, he'd probably complain and demand a refund.

Ugh, I HATE that! If you are paying them for the food, I would expect it to be decent and NOT something that you wouldn't even give your dog!

I personally would have sent it back. But then again, lots of times if you send stuff back, they'll do something nasty to your new order (like spit in the sauce, drop stuff on the floor, etc).... so I'm leary of that. I probably would have told them I wasn't eating it and then leave.

I would probably have not eaten anymore, asked for the manager AND gotten the district manager's number, then gone home (or somewhere really yummy). I would NOT have paid.

That's so bad when you go out and are disappointed. I'm sorry.

This is a little local place? I'd complain to the waitress & ask for new food or complain and say I don't have time to wait for new food & I'm not paying for this food. If that was a problem I'd ask for the owner or manager and explain it to them. Owners of little local places want people to say good things about them more than managers of chains. In my experience most will go to a good deal of effort to make things right.

I complain at chains too but I rarely ask for a redo, just to have the item taken off my check.

Thanks ladies! I ended up just eating what I could and paying..I always feel bad about complaining and I think these were actual menu issues more than chef issues...<gag> i do plan on calling and complaining though!

Seriously? I would have complained and left. No more food for me from that restaurant. Sounds like they need a little dose of Gordon Ramsay....

We would have complained at least about the underdone patty melt and then never eaten there again. HOWEVER, I used to belong to a food service message board and, due to horror stories, I REALLY don't like to send food back or ask for more stuff. I would rather eat the bread on the table and leave a crappy tip. The best thing you can do is never return and tell your friends not to go.

Man, there's nothing worse than going out to eat and it tastes like crap.

I have cajones the size of Jupiter ...I would have complained...told them I would never come back AND tell all my friends never to eat there. That should have gotten you at least your money back. I would have done all this as I was paying. I hope you left a 1 penny tip...or something equally crappy.

well I probably wouldn't have complained for "new stuff", but I would have told the waitress that this food was inedible and that I wanted my money back and I was taken my business else where!!!. Because.......if they are putting canned green beans on the salad then complaining for new food will do no good...the manager knows about this....it's kind of hard to hide open cans of green beans. They are using them to cut costs. Same with the bread.....you can't hide soggy bread....it's probably the wrong kind for burgers or it's "day old" bread!!!

In a case like that I would have whipped out my purse camera, snapped some pictures of the disgusting food and sent a letter to my local newspaper!!!

Sorry you got sucky food Traci....nothing worse then looking forward to not cooking and eating out and you get crap food!!!!
