Default Do you and your DH exchange Valentine's gifts?

poll is up!

And by the way, flowers or candy count as a gift in my opinion.

we don't exchange gifts, although we do go out to dinner. But even then we don't go out on Valentine's itself because most places are super busy. We normally go out the night before. And we take the kids. LOL Not very romantic.

My hubby almost always picks up some flowers for me. Sometimes we exchange gifts, although recently we've chosen not to. We try to go out (either just the two of us or with friends), but never on Valentine's itself for the same reason. This year we are going to brunch the day before and Grandma is watching the kiddos

I am so tempted to pick other. B gets gifts because it is his birthday so we celebrate that. He usually gets me a little something and the boys always get me flowers.

I do always buy something for my husband and he usually gets me something. This year I got a pretty frame and put a picture of me in it, a card, a subscription to his fav magazine and I am making this little jar with scraps of rolled up scrapbooking papers that say stuff like "I love how you can always make me laugh" or "I love how you are always nice to my family"...I am hoping to fill the jar all the way up LOL. After 20 years I should be able to huh?

We don't usually do gifts on Valentine's Day, but last year we did chocolate fondue for dessert and the boys loved it, so we are going to do it again this year.

We do. We don't do much for our birthdays b/c they're right after Christmas so we do gifts on Valentine's Day.

We don't normally do gifts for any occasion.
Sometimes cards & occasionally DH will surprise me with flowers, like he did on NY day.
We usually do the kids', but Valentines is right after my girls' birhtday, so usually a tiny candy heart & a card.

plus I made it a tradition that every year I give my boys Valentine gifts as well ...

in fact we start with heart shaped waffles for breakfast ... followed by some other heart shaped food for lunch and usually heart shaped pizza for dinner ... sometimes personal sized heart shaped meatloaves ... I can't remember offhand what other things I have made.

Some years we do some we don't..usually we try to go out to eat but this year we JUST had our anniversary date a month late so we probably won't be able to go out again til the summer sometime lol. We're not real sentimental people...cards and lovey dovey gifts are totally lost on DH lol...

I posted the other day about him taking my engagement ring to the jewelers for a "re-appraisal"...I'm thinking he's up to something, which has me excited and scared b/c I have no idea what he's doing to my ring! lol I think I'm going to get him a Keurig coffee maker for his office at work b/c he mentioned it would be nice to have one at work.

The kids get a small happy like a candy heart or something.

Usually, yes. But I don't know if we will this year or not... there isn't really anything we need/want. Plus my birthday is two weeks later. We usually do go out for dinner either the weekend before or after. This year it will be after b/c Luke has a birthday party to go to- free childcare! lol

We don't generally exchange gifts, either. The older we get, the more practical we seem to get . . . if one of us wants something, we generally get it & call it a gift for whatever holiday is closest!

Wow, so many don't! That makes me feel better. Valentine's is not huge here. We turn it into a family holiday. We all go out to eat together (before the actual day) and Shane buys the girls candy and usually a little animal or book. We do get candy for each other, but I don't really consider it a gift, I guess it is though.

Well... I picked the DH gets me one and I don't him only because.. he gets me a little something (usually chocolate, sometimes flowers) and I make him a special dinner (which I don't consider a gift) with his favorites and a special desert... then we just spend time together talking after kiddo goes to bed.

What she said! Course we do usually end up buying ourselves a new toy and calling it a V-day present, but really not.

It's random here. Should V-day fall on a weekend & the boys are in town, I'll get flowers but most of the time we don't do anything or plan anything. From Oct to the end of january it is constant birthday, holiday, anniversary, holiday, birthday, birthday. By the time we get that last birthday knocked out its nice to have to wait until July to have think of gifts. So V-day gets overlooked

We don't...ever-for any holiday...I think we are in the minority-but we chose long ago to not exchange gifts...we buy for the kids and if there is anything we want or need for ourselves throughout the year we usually buy it-for ourselves.
I do usually scrap a page and print it out for him...but that is the extent of it.
It just works for us.

We don't exchange gifts in the regular way. LOL We rather have a nice dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant and rent a few movies - usually one I want and one that he wants.

We don't - and haven't for quite some time. Mostly because my birthday is the 17th and we are usually saving $$$ to go camping that weekend. This year we aren't going camping so he's taking me out to my favorite restaurant the following Saturday - that way we can miss the crowds on V-Day.

We always exchange gifts. Some years we limit ourselves to a card or a SMALL gift and other years we can buy bigger gifts. It just depends on our budget each year.

We exchange gifts and some years one of us gets something fancier than the other, but for the most part it's pretty equal. Last year he got a super fancy Logitech remote and I got a pretty Amethyst necklace.

No idea what I'm getting this year. I got him some waterproof bionoculars for upcoming trip for 2 to Alaska this summer. I still need to get something to go with the bionoculars.

haha... I had to check the "other" box.

I buy my own Valentine's Day gift -- actually ordered myself a new sterling silver bracelet a few days ago. Posted about it on Facebook -- and then later that day hubby said, "so I see you ordered yourself your Vday gift." He had seen my FB post. I then expect hubby to get me something himself as well. LOL I want chocolate! Then I share with him. Works well for me.

I buy the kids a small little box of chocolates each.
