Default ohmygoooosh HEEEEELP!

I hate Hotmail. Hate it. Soooo... today I found out that someone had been in my Sears account (which I've only actually bought something from them once) and I was pretty certain they were also in my Hotmail account. This morning, Hotmail locked me out and required that I create a new password. I got out a sheet of paper to write down the new password, but apparently, I didn't actually write it down. And since I wanted it to be SECURE, it's a mix of capital and lowercase letters, numbers, AND symbols. So, naturally, I can't remember it. So, I tried to have the password sent to me, but the other email on file starts with a "ha" and I do not have an email that starts with that. They asked my security question, but I don't know the answer. So, I try and recover the account and to verify I am the owner of the account they ask for info I don't know. My hotmail is primarily mu junk email, but there are some stores I shop at that I still used it for and I'm concerned I may have some old emails saved in a folder that may have personal info in them I wouldn't want a hacker to have.

ANYWAYS, I get a reply that they weren't able to verify I am the owner of the email account and the case was closed and I could try again (I can't reply to the email because it replies to an "unmonitored inbox"). I need to contact someone at hotmail and I've looked all over the site for last hour and absolutely cannot find a place to just send an email to a person. Does anyone have any idea how I can contact a real person?

Well, apparently it looks like they do not just take support emails or have a phone number you can contact (according to my google searches). The only option is to post a question on their forums... WHICH I CAN'T do because you need to be signed into your Windows Live account in order to post.

Maybe make a new account to post your question? Sucks I am so sorry its super annoying and frustrating not to mention scary when you feel like your life has been violated like that. I hope you can get it solved ASAP!

Ugh, I just tried to. So, I try to ask a question and it makes me select a topic and gives me suggestions from the forums. It says if my question wasn't answered, I can click "Continue" to post my question, but then after I do, it ultimately sends me back to the recover password page and does NOT actually ever let me post in the forum. This is a nightmare.

Have you tried Twitter or Facebook? It looks like there are @hotmail and @windowslive accounts and a Hotmail FB page. If you bother them enough maybe someone will help you or maybe they'll know how to contact someone.

Ugh, I have no advice. I closed out my hotmail account after it got hacked 3 times in 4 months with military grade passwords on it. It was a PITA to try and close it and recover it after each hacking.

I just posted on their FB wall. Thanks for the idea. It looks like there are a lot of unanswered posts on there though, so I'm not holding my breath.

ugh! Hackers are so evil! I'm sorry you have to go through this!

Just a thing about password strength that I find interesting:

Now I HATE it when they ask for capital and whatnot because it doesn't make it any more secure!

Megan, I went through this VERY same thing last weekend. Someone hacked my account and I had to change my password, but I couldn't remember my security questions and the alternate e-mail address they had for me was like 15 years old! Anyway, after 45 minutes on hold, they fixed it for me in 3 minutes. I hope you get it figured out!

This is awesome.
Sorry you're having such trouble hon! I closed my hotmail like 7 years ago and switched to gmail.

LOL, this is SO true. My favorite is when they force you to make it super complicated and then make you change it regularly too. The military is notorious for doing this and every time it happens I'm like, you're just asking me to write it down because I'll never remember! So much for security, haha.

KAte, do you remember what number you called? The number Amy listed above is for MSN dial-up customers.

Sorry Megan, it wasn't Hotmail. But I hope you find the right number!

ETA: Goodness gracious! It is impossible to find their stupid phone number! I've just spent the last 20 minutes looking! Have you tried the help forums?

Oh yes, I did. And they keep giving me the same copied and pasted response. If you feel like getting angry, read this (I'm myscarletharmony). Oh, and according to their forums they DO NOT have a hotmail service number. What the crap? http://windowslivehelp.com/thread.as...1-a0ee0bb74978

Megan - I have no advice since I don't have a hotmail account and I don't know anything about them. But, I just have to say that if I was you, I would be on some kind of crazy rampage. Nothing, but NOTHING gets my blood boiling more than stuff like this. I hope you get it sorted out soon!

That seriously sucks. I hate it when you have a legitimate problem, and no one seems to want to help solve it. It doesn't sound like you've gotten anywhere! I wish I had some ideas to try, but I'm clueless. Hope you get it sorted out!!!
