Help a newbie out?

So I'm new to this forum/gallery stuff and I'm having a few issues with uploading my layouts and sizing. Is there a thread that explains this somewhere? Any tips, tricks or guidance is greatly appreciated.

A little while ago I posted a suggestion to have a sticky section here for forum posting help for us newbies. A lot of my questions were answered in that link, (as well as suggesting going to the tutorial section). Robin said she would post a sticky with the info, but in the mean time scroll thru this post too:

aklso you normally have to have 10 posts before it will let you upload to the gallery and it looks like you have them now

I wish I could sort out exactly what I can and can't do before those ten posts... I was able to upload to the gallery, and post in the challenge thread with a link (but it hasn't been approved yet, I think). I am trying to wait patiently.
