Have you read "Eat, Pray, Love" yet? It's got it's down moments, but they tend to speak to me a lot even in the down ones... overall, though, it's a very happy and uplifting embrace of culture, faith, and finding oneself. VERY inspiring!

Oh! Also wanted to add, this is a fun book, too

http://www.amazon.com/Icing-Cupcake-.../dp/034549296X

This girl loses her fiance, things are going bad, so she moves to New York to live with her estranged grandmother. Her grandmother says "get a job, or leave." She creates a great job doing what she does best.... CUPCAKES!

Very fun, humorous, and a great read... plus it has a smattering of yummy recipes between chapters. Definitely check it out

Have you read the Cedar Cove series by Debbie Macomber? I loved them. Such sweet stories. Check it out HERE.

Or if you don't want a series......Kristen Hannah always has great novels. Firefly Lane (a couple sad parts but great story), True Colors (great love story) or Winter Garden.

I have read the Icing on the Cupcake as mentioned above....I thought it was a cute story.

Have you read The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pant books yet? There are some sad moments but I LOVED that series. It is really funny and sweet. Oh and really light reading too so its not something that would take a long to get through

I love Jan Karon's The Mitford Years series. Ray Blackston is pretty funny and his books are lighthearted, quick reads.

YES!! These are what I would recommend, too! Sophie is the pen name of Madeleine Wickham... who also has books under her real name too. I have loved all of Madeleine/Sophie books... except for her latest, Twenties Girl... not my fav.

Another good light read are books by Emily Giffin - I really enjoyed Something Borrowed and Something Blue...and Baby Proof wasn't too bad.

I just read Something Borrowed, and then saw that it is coming out as a movie. Honestly, it was only so-so for me, but it was weird to see it's going to be a movie and the guy they picked was so not how I pictured Dex.

Was Something Blue better than Something Borrowed? I kinda disliked Darcy so not sure if I want to read more about her.

I went to search my books for a suggestion for you, and I realized I don't read many happy books. I love a good happily ever after, but all of my favorite urban fantasy series take a lot of books before they get to that happy place. When I need a quick dose of happy, I switch genres.

I love Lauren Willig's The Secret History of the Pink Carnation.

I just found Lisa Kleypas. The Hathaways series starts with Mine Till Midnight. I accidentally started the series with #2 and have to go back to this one, but I'm sure it's as good as the others I've read by her. I can tell she's going to be one of my go-to authors when I need some happy.

If you don't like Darcy... then you may not want to read this book... it's all about her... but she does get better.

Other authors I like, too are Jennifer Weiner and Jane Green - I can't read anything that is scary or upsetting... just like my movies - must be happy and free from really intense moments... LOL!

Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books are laugh out loud hilarious. One for the Money is the first. They get a bit same-y after a while but there are shortly to be 17 books in the series and that is pretty much inevitable.

If you haven't read it, Bridget Jones' Diary is laugh out loud funny.

Thanks for the Stephanie Plum suggestion! I don't usually read mysteries (unless they're urban fantasy), so I didn't know about those. Just added the first one to my to read list.

It's not a fiction novel, but it's oh so good...

The Hidden Art of Homemaking by Edith Schaeffer.

I've been reading a little bit every night and I find it very inspiring It's a book full of small tips on enriching our everyday lives with creativity (and joy).

YES. YES. YES. These books are hysterical! I never laugh when reading books and these books seriously crack me up! Stephanie Plum is the main character but the supporting characters of Lula (or Lola I cant remember) is a reformed 'Ho and helps Stephanie out at her cousins bail bonds business. Then her crazy Grandma Mazur seriously cracks me up!
