Default Blurb book help

I know some of you ladies do blurb books. I'm working on one right now, but I'm concerned about the edges it is supposedly going to cut off. It says "may" be cut off. So I don't know if I should reduce the size of the layouts so that there is a border around, or leave them. Also, do the center of the pages used for binding, so that you can't see the whole page? And on 2 pagers, I don't know how I should place them so that they end up lining up right. I'm probably making it harder than I should, but this book is going to be expensive, so I really don't want funky looking pages in it! Thanks for any help!
