Default Random Furniture Question

Ok so I've seen this a few times in the last few months in our move...

When they have a 3 piece TV/display case, they always line up the front so that its flush, but then in the back there is a big space where the two side pieces are shorter than the middle (TV) piece and there is a space between the wall and where they start.

I think they should be pushed up flush in the back, so that the front part is pushed in, with the center TV part sticking further out. But since I've seen this 3 times now done the opposite, I wonder if I'm just crazy!!

Here's an example if I made no sense in my description:

I want to move the furniture, but now I'm not sure!

I prefer it to be flush in the back rather than the front.

I like it flush in the back. That would be odd to have a gap inthe back when looking at it from either side. KWIM?

Thanks guys, well at least I don't feel weird anymore. It was 3 sets of these all lined up at the front that made me question myself. Wonder if its a man thing since they were the ones to "install" the cabinets. I asked my DH and he said front.

another vote for flush in the back - i can't even imagine the gap in the back if you lined it up in the front LOL - that would seem really strange to me!

I would prefer flush in the back (it would keep kids from hiding stuff there. lol).

I would think it is more stable and less like to tip if it's flush in back. I'd worry about a kid hiding something behind the shelf, then climbing in to get it and the whole shelf would fall over. In fact, with something that big, I'd probably bolt the pieces to the wall.

Flush in the back. It would look nicer and there'd be a flat area in the front that you could use if you wanted to instead of an awkward space in the back. I've never seen a piece like that flush in the front. Maybe show DH the box or photos online if he insists on the other way?
