Default NSBR: Birthday Goody Bags

So I finally got my DS zoo birthday party invitations finished ... will post later. But the zoo provides treat bags, I want to supplement because they seem a little cheap. So do you have any great ideas for things that aren't so junky?

puzzles from the dollar tree. They usually have zoo animal themed puzzles there. Maybe they have those little zoo cups or some sort of zoo type planter you could get a package of flower seeds for each kid (4 for a dollar at the dollar tree) and they can grow their own flower or plant. Coloring books and crayons. sidewalk chalk (I think the dollar tree had sidewalk chalk last tiume I was there). card games from target dollar spot or dollar tree. My kids always loved playing card games with me when they were little.

We didn't do treat bags for my daughter's birthday this year. Instead I bought and gave out bubble wands that came two per pack for $1. The kids and parents LOVED them!

Thanks for the ideas so far. I know I don't like getting the cheaper things, that I know that they won't play with, but I am just hurting for ideas.

Lots of cute things at Oriental Trading, I'm sure some are cheaper made than others.

Celebrate Express has some cute Zoo Birthday things too.

My son is only 2, but loves getting bubbles. Twisty straws are always fun too.

I love to give things that are re-usable and somewhat theme related. Maybe binoculars ($5 pair), water bottle (zoo theme if you can find them), puzzles, masks, personalize backbags, personalized t-shirts (you could totally do these with digital kits).

Hope that sparks an idea.

Keira's b-day is Sunday, in her goodie bags, they're getting, Hello Kitty socks, a couple rings, candy necklace, pencil, pez, washable tattoos, all Hello Kitty, and a full size coloring book. But it was all like a dollar or less @ Target, the tattoos I got online when I ordered the rest of the party stuff, but then again, I'm only having 2 kids over for the party besides Keira & Cooper.

Oh my kids used to love twisty straws until one day my son was walking with one in his mouth and the drink in his hand and he fell and the straw dug into the upper part of his mouth. Scared me half to death because he was bleeding so bad and I could see it cut him but I thought it went clean through. Once it stopped bleeding we could see it was just a bad scrape. Threw everyone of them out after that because even though it was such a freak accident it just left a really bad memory and didnt want to take the chance it could ever happen again.
