Okay smart people...I need your help
Abby's birthday party is next weekend. She chose a candy theme. It's harder than you'd think, trust me.
Other than sugaring them up with candy, clearly, I have 4 hours with 12 girls.. aged 8/9. I'm getting pizza.. and they'll all go through the candy bar.. .but... I need a game or a craft or both. We were going to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory but I'm not sure they'll sit through it. I thought candyland but I'm pretty sure they are too old for it. HELP ME!

Could they paint glass 'candy' jars to put their candy in???
I know you can do glass plates. Bake them for 30 minutes ish and then they're set. Let them cool and they can fill them at your candy bar.

Maybe they could use a flat style of candy (I'm thinking Smarties) that they could make mosaic-style pictures with or glue onto wooden boxes or frames.

Here are a couple things from pinterest:
http://pinterest.com/pin/60306082480401270/ http://pinterest.com/pin/142144931958387756/ I'd also get some cool beads or charms that have candy or sweets on them and let them make jewelry. You could also do face paint (candy themed). I like the mosaic or candy art idea! They could make any type of picture with things like lifesavers, skittles, smarties, gummies, red hots, etc. Candy wrapper belts http://pinterest.com/pin/189080884325748834/ Candy wrapper bracelet http://pinterest.com/pin/27443878949419661/ Candy wrapper barrette http://pinterest.com/pin/232709505715024881/

crafts are definitely great for that age!
If you still want a game, you could do a life size candyland... use construction paper for the pieces, I think they'd still enjoy it at that age! |

Don't kill me...but is it too early in season to make little gingerbread houses? You can pre-make the houses out of graham crackers, put them on a piece of cardboard wrapped with foil. Then let them decorate the houses and yard. They can take it home with them. If you don't want to do houses you could large gingerbread men. Super Target has the frozen ones you can bake but I don't know if they would be out yet or not. I've done this for a party and if they get in to it they can sit there for quite awhile and work on their houses.
Then do a candy themed necklace/bracelets in holiday colors so they can wear for the holidays. Look up some party games. Karaoke is always a big hit.

I actually did a Willy Wonka party. Here is the album if you want to see if it gives you any ideas.
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=42eb9a4975 If you wanted to do the colored hair spray (whether green for oompa loompas or just multi-colored for a bright candy effect), Walmart had them on clearance with the Halloween stuff for 50 cents a can. Oh and I had the movie playing in the background, but they didn't really watch it. I just explained before every game how it tied in to a character.

We did a Candyland themed party for my girls this year (of course they are younger 5/3)
Not much help for games and such, but the girls have some good ideas. We had a giant candy land carpet game (that no one played), after cake we took them outside and let them shoot balloons with the BB gun. We did the big candy land cake, variety of fruit in rainbow of colors with 'cloud' dip, sprinkle popcorn, rainbow goldfish crackers, we made lollipops with ritz crackers a pretzel stick and peanut butter.

You can buy kits to let them make their own candy necklaces or bracelets.

what about a treasure hunt to find the candy....you give them clues and they can split up into teams and then at the end they each get a little surprise for solving all the clues and finding the candy
