Default Who is watching "The Pitt"

I want to watch this but I'm pretty nervous about just how graphic it is - I have a hard time with any type of shows that show the ick. (weird of me to want to watch a medical show.. I know) I watched ER last year and was able to avoid most things but I think this show is even worse?

I had no idea emetophobia was an actual thing. I just say "I can't handle p***". How interesting.

I watched about half of the first episode and then stopped. It is pretty graphic and they had someone whose leg was totally mangled which I couldn't watch since I fractured my leg in July. My daughter is obsessed with The Pitt, though, and I might try watching with purposely not watching too closely. I often watch shows while looking at other stuff on my ipad anyay.

I was thinking of watching this. I don't watch much TV at all (I read)... this looked interesting, and I liked the actor. Maybe I would look away if it's bad. I don't usually have an issue though... only if it's someone related to me IRL. Then I get a little queasy.

Like Mari, I learnt something new today... emetophobia, that's something that I have mildly. And here I thought it was all in my head.

For me it actually all started because of a movie (stand by me when I was like 7 or 8 :P ) ugh. I have gotten a little bit better now that my kids have aged out of the scary years of stomach bugs

That one and 'The Man in the Moon' for me! I can handle some ick now, but not a lot of it. I haven't tried the Pitt - I mean, Noah Wylie - hello! - but haven't had the chance to yet. We don't have Crave right now either

I freaked out a lot when JHZ was sick and could not make it to the toilet to p*ke and ended making a mess elsewhere. And it came out as anger... and I had to clean those mess and tried my hardest not to p*ke too.
Horrible

I'm watching The Pitt and love it! I'm an ex medic though, so the medical stuff doesn't worry me. I don't think there's too much though. I really like how gritty and realistic the pressure is on the staff, and the dynamic between the staff and the administrators. It's more realistic to me than Greys Anatomy or any of the other medical dramas I've seen. I'm really enjoying it.

I've been watching it while the channel is on free preview here in Canada. I really like it but I don't know how much longer we will get it (it has been on free preview for quite a while now). Noah Wylie is amazing as the lead actor but the whole cast seems really good as well. Very well written and directed. But there definitely is some graphic content. More than most medical shows, but it is probably more realistic than most medical shows as well.

I LOVE The Pitt! It is a lot more realistic and I love how it shows the dynamics of how the ED works. I have always been a fan of Noah Wyle and he doesn't disappoint here. Like mentioned above, there is some graphic stuff, more so compared to ER but I don't think it overly focuses on it.

Learned a new word today!

Not watching b/c we don't have Max.

I think my squeamishness almost completely went away after I had to do wound care on my 18 month old's head. I still get a little weirded out by extreme violence or overly gory scenes, but I usually turn my head until that part is over.

I can handle most gore, some makes me squeamish but it doesn't cause the same type of anxiety or paranoia that v*mit does.

Isn't it weird what sets us off. I do don't well with vomit either, but in my case, there doesn't have to be actual vomit. If someone starts gagging, I am done. And any type of mouth injury, or even rotting teeth, totally sets me off. In fact, it doesn't have to be visual for me, even someone talking about both vomiting and mouth issues, can do me in.

Since I had my thyroid out, my gag reflex is very sensitive, so I just avoid those things as best as I can. But I still end up watching a lot of shows with my eyes averted and ears covered until those kinds of scenes are over.

I'm with you on mouth injuries, Lorie. My brother suffered a horrific tooth accident when he was in first grade, and ever since I am super grossed out by teeth. I couldn't even handle it when Aiden had loose teeth and then lost them (blech). I just can't even. I can't do gore or violence--it's not entertaining at all and upsets me. I can never unsee it, you know?

I completely agree. I will watch shows that have gore and violence, like the Walking Dead, but I always avert my eyes and plug my ears. Plus knowing it is not real helps. The reality shows do me in. I can't even watch Dr. Pimple Popper remove cysts. She pulls out the scalpel, I change the channel.

I'm realizing reading this thread I can't actually handle things as much as I said (thinking that it was just people getting sick I thought bugged me.. but that's not really true LOL)

I've never watched the walking dead. I do know if there is ever a zombie apocalypse I'd just be like "it's fine. take me out" LOL

Me too. I told my son, push me at the zombies and run, but promise to take care of my dogs and that you won't ever eat them. LOL

Just watched my first episode last night. TV for me is escapism. So I'm the rare person who prefers the glossier medical shows. However, it was good. There are a couple of very graphic seens - more than I have seen in other medical shows - of an ankle that got boo-booed. Strangely I find the evil that is very much in the world at large right now makes me even less accepting of certain types of gore in tv shows.

I worked in a nursing home for about 10 years, so I have a pretty strong stomach. The amount of body fluids we would see on a daily basis can not even be described. So when I had my own kids, changing their tiny little diapers and dealing with them being sick was a breeze after the humongous briefs and messes I had to clean up from adults, LOL.
Anyway, I just started watching and am about half-way through the first episode. I am a big fan of Noah Wylie, so I am hoping I like it, especially since there really isn't much new tv that I am watching right now.

As a medical person, I can confirm that it's definitely the MOST realistic and medically accurate medical tv show out there. I am watching and loving it. It captures the frustrations and pressures of admin vs providers and the balance of stress.

HUGE Noah Wyle fan here, so I was super excited about the Pitt, and I love it so far. I even subscribed to Max so I can watch it. I don't love the gross scenes - I just turn my head lol.

I really like it. I binged all of ER back in 2018 (we didn't have NBC when I was growing up). I use to love Grey's, but finally stopped watching it, so I was looking for a new medical drama.

Not gonna lie, I could have done without the birth scene, LOL! But otherwise, it's so good. My SIL's BF is a ER Nurse, and she's been talking about how realistic it is, compared to others out there.

I've been watching it and I love it! There are graphic scenes but they are filmed to look and feel realistic and I'm not put off by them. The last two episodes have been very intense, to say the least!

I ended up watching the entire series in a few days! LOL!

I thought it was great and am excited for the next season to be released.

I am not a fan of yucky scenes, but since I was scrapping while I was watching, I was distracted through most of the gore.
