Default anyone being a hermit crab tonight?

and staying home? Its 9pm here and hubby and i are happily sitting at home doing nothing. Its our first year as parents, and although we were invited to a bbq with friends, i just didnt fancy dragging our 5month old out. Plus hubby has been working non stop all year so hes more than happy to just chill at home and watch dvds. I fully expect we'll both be asleep long before midnight. My former party self is disgusted with me. lol

We are! We have a 6 month old and a 4 1/2 year old who is a stinkin' crab when he's tired... so yeah, we aren't going anywhere! We haven't really done anything for New Year's since my son was born! Too tired to! lol!

Tony is working, like he does most every NYE, he's a cop. I'll be home alone with the three kids. We're going to a movie today and the kids want to go to McDonald's LOL. I am going to run into Wal-Mart for a couple of things I need to get sorted out for skating and work this week. How exciting LOL! Feels kinda lame compared to my younger days, but we haven't gone out on NYE since Benjamin was born in 2000, he's worked every year except 1.

Another one here. Similar to Rachael, with 7 months old and 3 years old, whose hour H is 8 pm, when she goes to bed later, it's horror. And then the kids get up at 5 or 6 am, no mather what day it is and at what time the parents were going to bed last night. I think we're not up until midnight.

I've pretty much always been a hermit crab on NYE even when young and single. Today I woke up at 5am so don't think I can stay awake until midnight. My 5yo has been asking to stay up until midnight though so we shall see.

Ditto, Mimi! I've never been one to go out on NYE. So this year will be like all the others. I'll be cuddled up at home with my kiddos and Tim. I may or may not stay up till midnight.

Our small group from church is having a get together which will no doubt be very child friendly - but I'm not up for it, so we're staying home. I think my dh would be glad to try and go - but I've been going to bed at 9:30 every night to try and get enough sleep between feedings...so I think I'd rather stay home. Sleep is very important to me right now lol.

We'll be staying in like always... because I'm just a bit of a hermit in general, LOL!

I was thinking of doing a movie night with the boys... popcorn, junk foods, etc. But we'll see because right now it's snowing so I don't know how I'm going to get out to the store.

in my former life I was a MAJOR partier...but for the last probably 6 years we've been in bed WELL before midnight and I kinda like it like that. NYE is amateur night anyway...too many crazies out there for me.

Hmm... we'll be out of the house... but sitting in a radio studio. My FIL has a big band radio show... has been doing it for the last 30 some years. Well, we all will be sitting there until the turn of midnight... I entertaining a cranky 2.5 year old... then we will spend the night in a hotel so kiddo can play in the pool.

it's our anniversary and every year around 11:15pmish or so we (along with the kids) take our redneck selves to Waffle House..so we're doing it again this year haha...We had a lot of fun ringing in the new year last year with the crew there. It wasn't busy at all! They gave the kids quarters for the jukebox and we toasted hot chocolate!

p.s..i'm not really a redneck

Staying in -- and nobody has asked me to watch their kids yet. (It is still early, though).

Lena, Yay! I hope you get to go home today.

Yep, we pretty much stay in too. I think we're going out for an early steak dinner (we're both going on diets this year) and will probably be sleeping well before the new year! Babies do that to ya!

We always stay home for New Year's Eve BUT we have our best friends and their families over for a big fondu dinner and then set off those little "popper" kind of fireworks in the driveway.

Yep...I am defenitely staying in. I just hope our idiot neighbors do NOT get out at midnight and start shooting their guns in the air. Scares me so bad because they have someone shot every year on the news by people doing just that

We've been home for NYE every year since my oldest was born 6 years ago, and that's exactly where we'll be tonight. DH took today off work, so we'll all be hanging out, baking cupcakes for tonight's 7 pm, pre-bedtime kid celebration. Not sure yet what else I'll do with them--I refused to buy noisemakers, since they don't need any help in that department! Then DH and I will order dinner in and watch the countdown. He'll be asleep by 12:15, and I get to check out the new challenges!

We pretty much always stay home on NYE too, none of the grandparents ever want to watch our three kids so we can go out that night but we're okay with that! We usually stay home and watch movies and I fix a bunch of snacks...rotel cheese dip, bbq lil' smokies, cheese, pepperoni & crackers and we'll probably make cookies too

We will ring in the new year alone. We are planning to get the kids to bed at their usual time, finish a movie we started last night and then ring in the new year with champagne in the hot tub

We'll be home too. We went out until we had kids and now we don't anymore.

Last year the kids both stayed up until midnight, they're asking to this year, so we're having mandatory nap time currently. We'll make cookies later and I might run to the store for junk food, we'll see if DH is going to make dinner or what.... LOL

Not Me!!!! We're going out for the first time in probably 3 or 4 years. Two parties - our BFF's neighbors first and then DH's Captain's house to ring in the New Year.

We're staying in too - just like always!! lol I prefer it that way though - we're just a bunch homebodies!! Libby says she wants to stay up till midnight...we're going to let her...I know for a fact she won't be able to. We're making snacks (puppy chow, sausage cheese balls and buffalo chicken dip) and having pizza for dinner. Then we're just hanging out together. I'm actually really excited about it

Well, not like we ever do anything for NYE anyway...but this year DH has to work Which stinks IMO, because it'll put him in the Dallas area around midnight. Here's hoping he gets out of the Big D before all of the drunks hit the roads.

And tomorrow...Rose Parade and grocery shopping. Super exciting LOL

We are hosting a small party with 2-3 other families. We have lots of snacky things & a small bonfire & fireworks at midnight. We do it every year because it is DH's b-day.

Honestly though, I'd rather it just be us. Maybe just lay around the house & go to bed whenever I felt like it or go out to Denny's for a midnight snack.

I'm actually sort of grumpy about the whole thing this year because I'm so not in the mood to have a dozen over tired kids shrieking and whining all around the house until 1am or whenever their parents feel like going home. (last year they were here until 3am. I went to bed at 1am and let DH hang out with them) Unlike all the other kids, who will sleep in until 9-10 in the morning, my little demons will be up at 5:30-6a just like always, only cranky as all get out because they only had 5 hours sleep. And guess who gets to get up with them? Anticipating that makes me annoyed about the whole thing

Yes! With 2 little ones (5 years old and 20 months) we are just staying in, watching the ball drop at 9:00 (we are in CA) and probably getting pizza or something.

we are staying in, but you really can't do much with 4 kids that range from 2 to 16...... but staying more so because I have a 24 hour duty tomorrow {Navy calls!!!}...but it's not so bad, I volunteered for it so all the young kids could go out and party and I could be off with my family for Xmas but I do have a few beers int he fridge and will probably be up wiating for the new challenges to get posted

i worked all day. i fully intend on spending the entire night in my pajamas. with my laptop, a couple movies, and some junk food. i'm not one for going out to begin with. so this isn't any big change. plus, everyone's gone. so i have the house to myself, pretty much.

We're home ... our initial plans fell through ... my mom is sick so that's a no go ... trying to convince the kids to get off the games and play board games but it's not working so far. No mojo to scrap unfortunately since I need my 2010 wall calendar DONE now!

We're staying home as we always do! We're watching a show I recorded a couple weeks ago, Pixar Shorts. The boys are loving it! As soon as it's over though, they're going to bed. Andrew and I will probably crash soon after.

I'm at home, have been since having children. We used to go downtown and "watch the acorn drop" lol (our city drops a giant acorn since we are the city of oaks.) My 6 yo is trying to stay up until midnight, we'll see if she makes it! I have zero desire to be anywhere other than my house at midnight, until I have grown kids lol.

Dogwood Moma- I watched the acorn drop tonight on t.v.
I don't think we've been out since Kassi was born. Hubby always has to work, some inventory junk that is mandatory. He actually got home in time to watch the acorn drop with me, over some mexican dip and chicken wings.
Now the old man is asleep. Yes, he's knocked out already and here I am stuffed with junk food and still wide awake.

Who else's husbands are snoring? Pffft. Men. Party poopers.

I was working 11.30am until 6pm on NYE & 3.30pm til 7.30pm tonight so I didn't really celebrate much at all. I will however celebrate knowing when my next day off is. Initially I was due to work from December 27th to January 4th with no breaks but that was ok because most of my co-workers are off on holiday. Yesterday though I found out that I won't be getting a day off until January 9th which would make it 13 days straight, I said no I'm not working until next Friday so hopefully with a bit of tweaking I may have next Tuesday Jan 5th off.

We were hermits for a change - we've watched the fire works for the past 2 years in the city and my dds begged to have a loafer at home - they stayed up and we visited a friend but got back home within seconds of the fireworks starting on tele!
Didnt miss the urine smell (due to lack of facilities and effects of alcohol...not ours i assure you), the drunken massess, broken glass or the street language one little but - strange huh!! But the fireworks was def a little less exciting as a broadcast!

Ours has been long gone now and its nearly the 2nd so happy New year everyone - loafers, layabouts and loud party goers alike!!
