Default Font help

I'm looking for a san serif-type font that is plain and simple and thin, if that makes sense. I've got a bunch of fonts but none seem right so I'm coming for help

thin and tall or just thin strokes?

Future and Century Gothic are pretty standard
Or something like DJB Beanpole

Thin and tall. And I'll look at Beanpole too!

These are all hairline fonts (free) in a range of styles:

basicl
quicksand
penelope anne

Do you need thicker-- If so, which font was the closest to what you're looking for?

Futura comes native to OSX and has thinner weights, but I don't think you can download for free

Quicksand bold might just be perfect - off to check.

Rothman is another tall thin one that I like - all caps though, so I don't know if that works for what you're doing.
