Default Ugh someone took my dog!!

I let her in the garden earlier, turned around to sort my little boy out and went back out the dog was at the end of the street, I went to get my shoes on to go and get and she was gone. So I walked to the end of the street and looked along the others and there was no sign of her.

My oldest son asked his friend if she had saw her and she said someone from the next street picked her up and took her!!! All within 2- 3 mins of her getting out the gate. I've got no idea who it is so I can't even go to anyone's door, so I've asked my Aunt who lives in that street to keep an ear out for anyone saying they've found a dog and kept her.

She is a Chihuahua X so will be easily recognised by anyone in my family if they do see her, I'm just so p*ssed that they've took her.

Hopefully she gets found and brought home soon, I have 2 upset boys here. Once they've had their dinner I'm going to get ready and walk along that street to see if I can spot her anywhere in the gardens up there.

Well, hopefully it was just a good samaritan taking her so that she wouldn't get hit by a car, and you find her soon.

I hope so.

My cousin has a friend who lives in that street so I've just asked her to ask her friend to keep an eye out for me too.

I hope you'll find her soon! I'd be calling the police about it...I'd rather pay a ticket for the dog being loose than not get the dog back.

Hmm I didn't think the police would do anything, if I don't see her when I walk along the street in a minute I'll call them and see what they say. I've also put her on a lost dog site, and put it on my FB status as I have people who know people who live in the street in question.

I don't know if the police could do anything but you could try, just ring your local station (not the 999 number ) and ask. They helped me track down a bee keeper a couple of years ago when I phoned our station in hysterics with a swarm of honeybees in my garden, honestly I didn't know what to do and they were lovely, really calmed me down.

Is your little doggie chipped?

all of my pets are microchipped...that doesn't help if they don't take the dog in someplace where it can be scanned. But they also wear tags with info. I also make it a point to talk to neighbors and they all know about me and my dogs. If one were to get out, chances are good a neighbor would be able to call them by name and bring them home.

Of course my service dog in training is especially precious to us (as well as a major investment in time and money for the training!) So I make extra sure my neighbors know about Saya's SDIT status and her importance to me even if she's not wearing her vest when we go for neighborhood walks.

ETA: alert your local veterinarians even if the dog isn't chipped. If someone is planning to keep the dog and takes it in for an exam then can be on the lookout. Also, flyers claiming the dog has some expensive medical condition might trigger a quick return.

Kristi

I hope your pet is returned to you safe and sound.

But there are people out there that are low enough to steal other people's pets. I had a friend/neighbor once who's dog was stolen out of her back yard... someone opened the gate and took the dog. A couple weeks later another neighbor came to me and told me that she thought another neighbor had the missing dog (I'm talking a neighbor that lived on the other side of the street two doors down). So I "staked" out the house to catch a glimpse of the dog to make sure it was the missing pet. It was and my friend and I called the police to inform them of the situation. I won't go into all the details regarding this person's problems that were brought to light... but I was glad that my friend got her dog back.

I hope your able to find her soon Gemma! We had a friend of ours lose her dog just this past weekend and they had only just gotten her the previous day! Luckily she was microchipped and she was found at the local uni by staff there and they called the pound who called my friend.

Hopefully its just a good Samaritan who's got your dog and is keeping them safe

Good news...

I got a message on Facebook off my uncle last night saying someone had asked my cousin if he wanted to buy the dog!!! He spoke to my uncle as I wasn't online, and told him. They tracked the dog down to some woman's house, and my cousin is going to pick it up from hers and bring it back sometime today.

It turns out it was a little girl who took the dog, not sure of her age, so when I call the police back saying I have her, I'm going to see if they'll go to her house and give her a talking to about not picking random pets up and trying to sell them on!!

The boys are so happy that she is coming home.

Yey! I'm so happy you found the dog! Who would try to sell a random dog they found though? Seems like such an odd thing to do. And what about the girl's parents? If any of my kids came home with a dog, I certainly wouldn't let them try to sell it..

I haven't got a clue, it's a totally random thing to do.

If my 2 brought a dog in, I'd walk it back around the street they found it then phone the kennel people to take it if I couldn't find the owner, not try and pass it on to someone else. They probably thought of the money they could make more than anything else.

WHO DOES THAT?!?! Omg!

Man, I'm so glad that your uncle was contacted, even if it was for the wrong reasons!
Sounds like it's time to get a fence, or to stop letting the lil one out by themself.

WHA? They "found" a random dog and then tried to sell it? Definitely something fishy there.
