Windows: Press your ALT key and the number pad 0233 at the same time

MAC: OPTION-e and e at the same time.

Finding your Character Map. Please be sure to have your font already installed to use this feature. This will let you see all of the characters available in any font and what keys to get to them.

Windows:
Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map to open Windows Character Map. In the Font pull down of Windows Character Map select one of your installed fonts.

MAC:
You can see the character map on the menu bar. Go to System Preferences, in there to International > Input Menu. Select in that all the layouts you want to use (e.g. US, Italian PRO), and select "Character Palette". Then you will see a small flag on your menu bar to indicate your keyboard layout; scrolling down from the flag you will see character palette, and if you click on that it opens a new window.
