Default A family tradition is born!

I always wondered how family traditions got started. I think I just found out. When DS turned 2, we took a birthday trip to Disney World. I made t-shirts for us to commemorate the occasion since my parents and my sister were joining us. It was 2005, so I hadn't started digital scrapbooking yet (still a paper scrapper back then). I made the shirt using my Disney Print Studio Software. It was a simple shirt with a large Disney graphic and text underneath. Last year, DS decided he wanted a birthday trip to Disney, so I decided to make shirts again and design a scrapbook page as the iron-on. This year, we're going again. My parents and sister will be there, so my father said, "I can't wait to see this year's shirt." And I guess we now have a family tradition!

Anyway, I made the shirt design last night using Julie's Carnival kit and Traci's Bad Sewing Machine XVIII. Here it is:

ETA: I made the alpha for BOY using an Atomic Cupcake action. The backs of the shirts will identify us using the same 2 alphas that are in the design. My shirt will say Michael's Mom, my mom's will say Michael's Grandma, etc.

Cute shirt and a fun tradition. I think it's awesome that everyone's so excited about your creations.

The thing I really like about it is that I kept the shirt from his 2nd birthday and the one from last year. We'll add this to the collection and then all the future shirts. Imagine the collection he'll have by the time he hits his teens and thinks he's too cool for "stuff like that." He'll appreciate it as an adult though!

Maybe you can turn all his birthday t-shirts into a keepsake quilt when you have enough (or have someone else do it)!

I LOVE that idea!!! Sewing is my sister's department. I can make basic things, but she's the genius! I guess I'll have to share this idea with her.
