Default Help. Where do I start?

Hello ladies..
I've been a digi scrapper for ages and I have saved tons of layouts for inspiration. I enjoy shopping a lot, maybe way too much.. (So excited for DSD ) LOL.
Every time I buy a kit or bundle, I can imagine the amazing pages I'm going to make and what photos I'll use for a kit before I buy them, but then... I don't scrap. Just like that, inspiration gone. It lasts while I'm shopping, maybe to persuade me to buy it, because I need it, I don't know?
I've done a few pages, mostly pages with photos of family to share with them.
I also have another severe condition, LOL.. Whenever I see new stuff that is always gorgeous of course, I convince myself, that good thing I didn't start to scrap, because this kit for example suits my style better, or matches those photos for that occasion more, than previous stuff I bought.
Any advice? Do I start randomly? Do I use new stuff? Do I scrap with my latest photos? I have FOMO (fear of missing out) and then I am actually missing out. Bummer..
How do you manage to finally make your layouts, if you're not a sugarbabe or on a team?
Thank you in advance.

Maybe try starting by doing a page for Choose Your Own Adventure? The challenges might get your creative juices flowing! Or look through the gallery and maybe scraplift a page you like, or look through the store at the kits you have bought and look at the example pages the babes have made with that kit.

I also find a lot of inspiration on Pinterest, too.

Hope that helps!

I'm sorry you're struggling!! There will be several layout challenges during the DSD weekend and that might be a good way to jump in.

I also love the idea of using the CYOA challenges!! Instead of stressing out about finishing a certain # of challenges each month, maybe pick one or two to scrap in hopes that might get the ball rolling?

I'd also suggest, scrap for YOUself! Scrap YOUR style, the way YOU want to. There is definitely not a wrong or right way to create layouts!! I can't wait to watch your gallery grow!!

I'm sending you lots of good vibes!

I don't scrap chronologically, so I often just go to my phone and pick a photo that I want to scrap. Then I go to my huge stash to find a kit. Or I'll find a kit that I want to use and then go look for a photo or two. I'm pretty much a one-kit scrapper. It is so easy for me to shop and buy all the gorgeous kits, but I struggle finding time to actually scrap. I don't think about how far behind I may be; I just take it one day at a time. Good luck!

Ok so I've only been a sugarbabe for a year, but I still do this. I play 'scrap roulette' with my stash. If there's 100 items in a folder, I pick a random number and have to create a page with that item. Gets me scrapping AND using my stash!

This is brilliant! And should be a challenge, right?

My best advice: just scrap. Grab a favorite photo and a couple of kits (or just one kit if you are a one-kit scrapper) and have at it. You don't have to finish it. You don't have to keep the layout. In fact, walking away and looking at the layout later on will often give you an appreciation of what you created and then you can finish it or just pop in the trash bin. Nothing ventured nothing gained!

Yep, and I buy the kits for a reason, may as well use them! When my stash started getting out of control (think: kits from 2008 still not used) - if I decided I couldn't make anything with it, I also had to delete the kit (hence the roulette part lol)

Whenever I feel like I don't have any inspiration, I like to do a challenge. The challenges often spark creativity, especially if they aren't really my "style."

I love buying kits, but also haven't used many of them. I also find that using templates or sketches takes a little of the creativity pressure off. I can make a great layout but don't have to come up with it completely on my own.

I'm also very motivated by challenges (although I don't lack in the internal motivation).

I'm currently making a page where I pick my favorite elements and put those in a template first (after my photos). I LOVE all the adorable details in this kit so I'm starting with those and just letting them take center stage. That might work for you since you clearly fell in love with some kits.

I just look through my photos and decide to scrap whatever it is I like best at the moment! Maybe they're super cute, or it's a story I want to tell. You can do it however you want, and making something that's not the "perfect" page is still better than making nothing because you're worried it's not the best time or opportunity or kit or whatever. And if a "better " kit should come along, why can't you rescrap it? There are no rules, and nobody will know or care, except you! Do whatever is fun and brings you joy. And one of my secrets, especially after a hiatus, is to just accept that I'm going to make a token "ugly" page to work out all my kinks, and then I'll be good to go. Takes all the pressure off to be awesome, because I knew that page would be ugly, kwim?

Hugs! I know how paralyzing it can be to have too many good options.

I echo everyone here.

Even as a Sugarbabe, we lose mojo all the time.
Just choose a photo, one of those beauitful kits you bought and create a page.

Challenges are good for inspiration because they give you an initial direction to go, ie. create a page about some place you want to visit, or create a page with 4 photos etc.....

But I like scraplifts personally. Choose a page from the gallery you really like, can be simple or complex, and try to copy it with the kit you're using. Sometimes that gets my mojo going.

Or use a template as your starting point. Having a template that tells you where to put all the photos, papers and elements makes it easy, you just choose them from the kit and done!

Jump in and have fun!

The best thing to remember about digital is you are never wasting a photo or wasting a kit/supplies! You can just play and have fun with a kit and if you don't like the result you can scrap the photo with another kit or use the kit with another photo! <3

Designers feel the same way too! Sometimes we will look at our stuff and love it - a week later absolutely detest it all!! It's funny how the brain plays tricks on you.

Start anywhere in your stash of photos - or take new ones to play with. I don't scrap chronologically - I scrap where my whim takes me. Then simply grab a kit or grab items from several and have fun with it. Scraplifting a great layout is also a great way to help your mojo. I do know that when I have too many choices when I design, my brain shuts down and goes into a rabbithole on FB, Instagram, or anywhere but doing what I intended to do - so if you need fewer distractions, work accordingly.

I feel this!! Sometimes I'm super excited to scrap, buy like 10 kits, and then open Photoshop and feel emptiness lol. Like I have no idea what to do and the whim has gone!

I've been scrapping since I think 2010, and I've learned that my mojo comes and goes. When I'm not feeling it, I don't push it. After all, I started this because it's fun! When I'm in the mood though, and am buying kits, I definitely think challenges help me! I love competing against myself to finish all the challenges lol. Honestly, when I am in a rut, I usually start back up again at the time of a huge challenge or event because I delve in full force.

Or I will open my camera roll on my phone, swipe fast, and then close my eyes and put my finger on a photo. That photo then inspires my layout. I don't put pressure on myself to use that specific image if I'm not feeling it, but I take inspiration from it. For example, if it is a pic of my daughter, I may decide to scrap a page about her last haircut, her bday, or just a cute pic of her that I've taken recently (or when she was a baby). No rules basically! I just do that to get the juices flowing.

I hope you find a little inspiration to scrap whatever makes you happy!

Every time I see your new products, or look at my folder with your designs, I always wondered how you and other designers manage to keep track of everything you make?
You're so right about the best thing about digital, is that nothing goes to waste. I'll keep that in mind. So helpful. A totally new perspective on making layouts.
