Desktop or laptop
Alright y'all...laptop or desktop?
My desktop is like 9 yrs old, it's time for something new. I use photoshop/illustrator and my silhouette program a lot. I'm a photographer plus digital scrapbooking plus my crafting. Not sure what I want. I had a laptop before my desktop. I love both, I do miss the mobility of my laptop but I like that my desktop does keep me stationary and I cant work anywhere and everywhere...but in the summer it would be nice to work outside (if need be) while my kid swims or plays. Plus a desktop has the bigger screen.....ahhhhhh decisions decisions

I mostly use my desktop to scrap because I like having my 2 large monitors.
I have a laptop that I use if I'm away from home, or scrapping with friends.

I use an iMac, so it's a desktop for me.
I miss having laptop though, where I can just bring it wherever I go...

I love my desktop with 2 wide screen monitors. I tried scrapping on a laptop while camping one Christmas but just couldn't deal with the small single screen.

I use my laptop and although I would love to have a bigger screen for scrapping I hate being locked away in the office to use a desktop. If I had anywhere to set up a desktop in my living room I would do that for sure but for now the mobility of the laptop wins.

Laptop for me. I bring it on vacations, use it in different rooms of the house (even though I use it at my desk 80-90% of the time I use it at home), sit at Starbucks or the library with it, bring it to teacher work days for lesson planning, etc. That freedom makes me happier than a bigger screen or more storage space would.

Good argument for both. I love my desktop with 2 large monitors but when we go to our summer place I love the portability of my laptop but it does bug me to have a smaller screen.

I was laptop and it died so I borrowed my 17 year olds PC and it was so bad lol, I HATED being stuck in 1 place, I'm always switching position and couldn't with a pc so that was part of why my scrapping lacked so much last year. I bought mysef a new laptop in January and while it's not the best and top spec but it does me and I can scrap while moving around again!

17" laptop, that is surprisingly light, but I also have an extra monitor for when I need it. I have debated going back to a desktop, but I just love the mobility.
That said, I would go back to a desktop if it meant I could be an Mac gal again, but it's just not in the cards for me anytime soon.

desktop. I would not be able to deal with a laptop as nice as it would be to sometimes chill on the couch lol. My "office" is in the living room though.

I was a desktop person with two screens! That was my preference until it became old and slow. Now I have a laptop and I love being on the couch with it to scrap but I miss the bigger dual screen.
I also love that you can just put it away and it doesn't get dusty like the desktop would. Just make sure it's super powerful so it doesn't get slow.

I have both and find it very hard to scrap on the laptop. I much prefer scrapping on my bigger desktop monitor.

I'm a laptop person. I'm always surprised desktops are as popular as they are since a laptop can function as a desktop too. I have all of the same "external equipment" as a desktop user, dual (bigger) monitors, a mouse, keyboard ... but I'm also mobile. It's a great balance for me. I have a 15" monitor on my MacBook which mostly meets my needs size-wise. For me it's imperative that I can move to be in the same room with my kids in the evening, so I love having the mobility option.
Good luck with your decision!

For those of you who like dual and/or bigger monitors, have you considered just hooking up a laptop to an external monitor(s)?

I have a laptop - but hubby thinks I should have a desktop because I can bring my MacPro to it's knees, haha. But I need the mobility - I scrapbook at the kitchen table, in the living room, in the bedroom, out on the deck, at the YMCA, on vacation, etc...

Laptop, want the mobility and choice to take it places if need be though 99% of the time it’s used at home

I have a narrow desk with built in shelving right behind it. It works perfectly with a laptop that can be closed when not in use, but I suspect I couldn't fit an external monitor without giving up a lot of my desk's storage space. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

I use a laptop... I can't stand being stuck in one place, but I spend a lot of time on my computer for work and play so I enjoy the portability.

But you can usually get more bang for your buck if you go the desktop route.

Right now my "office" aka where my desktop is, is in the dining room area. When we move in the summer it will be in a spare bedroom or there is a desk in the kitchen/laundry area (it's hard to explain lol).
I've been going back and forth with laptop or desktop so much that it's making me crazy lol. I have thought about getting laptop and then just wiping out my desktop so that I could keep both if needed and mainly use the laptop. I'd just move all of my files to external drives, but have my programs on both computers. And I could just use the monitor with the laptop as needed. I don't know this is worse than buying a new car lol

I have a laptop because it works best in my home. Where I like to relax/sit is on my couch. In the past, I had a desk that I preferred to use & thus used a desktop.
