Default need book/audio book suggestions for DH

My husband has recently discovered that he LOVES audio books! He started with the Harry Potter series (loved listening to Jim Dale read) and then just finished listening to the Eragon series. He loves action/adventure but he might be up for crime drama. And it doesn't have to be children's fiction LOL, but I got him interested in these because we'd seen the movies. Any ideas for my DH?

I don't know if they are available as audio books, but my DH and I LOVE the Fablehaven series. It's complete now too (the last book just came out). If he likes Harry Potter and Eragon, I think he'd really like this one too! (We like it more than harry potter!)

oh and he might like the Percy Jackson books, whatever they are called. My hubby has read them and we listened to one on our trip last summer, but I haven't read them.

We always end up listening to audiobooks whenever we drive on vacation, and the last series we listened to was the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. They just made the first book, The Lightening Thief, into a movie, which of course was not as good as the book (or audiobook, I should say. )

My husband has read a couple of Clive Cussler's books and has really enjoyed them...I know they're available on audio book but he hasn't listened to them. The Dirk Pitt novels are the one's that he's read. When I asked him about action/adventure those are the first ones that popped into his head.

I love Jim Dale! I'm an audiobook fanatic and am very proud of myself that I save us so much money by downloading them from the library.

If he likes crime/thriller stuff, the Scarpetta books are very good on audio. Oh, and some of my favorite audio books are the Pendergast books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child -- Relic was one of the first books I listened to on audio and it's still one of my favorites.

Julie - there a re quite a few places online to get classics in audio - as itunes or mp3 -

http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/
http://freeclassicaudiobooks.com/

You can check with your local library and get a ton. My husband loves the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series, Lord of the Rings, Terry Pratchett, etc.

You can also check librivox.org for free audiobooks (the books have to be old enough to be in the public domain). My favorite reader that I've discovered is Karen Savage (aka gypsygirl). It's a good way to read classics.

I LOVE audiobooks! My ipod is mostly audiobooks. I don't have time to sit and read a book so this is my way of reading books. I use Itunes. I have the twilight series, and even House of Night series. I wanna get the old Sherlock Holmes next

I think Jim Dale ruined me for audiobooks. I absolutely love listening to him, so I listen to the Harry Potter series over and over, I have even gotten DS hooked on them too and he's only 3! I did try some Dan Brown and James Patterson too, but it just sounded strange to hear them without the British accent

I've been sitting her wracking my brain because I KNEW there was another series I liked that was read by Jim Dale. Just remembered it: Peter and the Shadow Thieves by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. It's a little "younger" than the Harry Potter series, but I still loved it.

Peter and the Starcatchers is great, Dawn...we're reading it at home together and love it.

Julie, just DON'T listen to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The narrator ruined the books for me. I just didn't like him LOL

My DH really enjoys the Clive Cussler books too. Kind of similar to James Bond if he likes that kind of thing.
