Looks like it is closed now. Good! Sometimes opinions are best kept to yourself. I hope some of those chicks learned that lesson today.

It seems that the thread has now been closed by a mod. FINALLY.
ETA: Whoops. Didn't see that Amanda had posted the same thing

Well I missed all that drama. I've never been to the mb or gallery on that site anyway. I think I'll go post all my digi layouts there under the "layouts" category now and bombard them.

So I'm taking it that you haven't noticed yet that that one of the instigators went ahead and when the other thread got closed went ahead and bumped an old one about the same topic....

I was just over there and saw that Aaron. So pathetic.
The old "see, this isn't a new problem, don't blame us" defense.

I guess I don't get it. I went over there and read a small portion of the thread yesterday. What's the big deal? I like looking at paper LOs as inspiration for my digi work, why can't they do the same? To *me* a LO is a digital LO. So they should post theirs in the "paper LO" gallery. I think I should go post that there.....
They seem like children and that's sad for them.

My gosh, that's a bit childish, no?
And if it is an OLD problem, then they should have fixed the gallery already, to avoid it coming up again. I mean, come on!

jeez girls, I go away on a business trip for a few days and a scrappin' WAR breaks out...
I know this topic is old at this point, but I was a paper scrapper for 10 years. Their arguments are such crap...the insistence that poor dial-uppers having to look at digi layouts when they are "searching" for paper layouts is totally bogus. What are they going to do - run out to Hobby Lobby to pick up the EXACT papers they see on a paper layout? I know that when I did paper, I used old stuff all the time. So most paper supplies on layouts would be just as inaccessible to them as our digi supplies. And regarding techniques - gimme a break on that, too! It's not like the PICTURE of the layout tells you anything about how to do distressed edges or curled leaves or stamping. I think the issue is that there are many digi scrappers who have evolved to a style that isn't popular with paper scrappers. The fantasy type stuff, extractions, blending, etc. When I was a paper scrapper I didn't want to see that stuff either (I once swore I would NEVER be a digi scrapper, for the record. can you believe that?!). Frankly, I would have had more respect for their position if they would have just been more honest about the real issue. But so many of you here do layouts that "feel" like paper, that its no doubt they love and are inspired by your work! (i know I am!)... I am curious though - why do digi scrappers want to post at a mostly "paper" place anyway? |

Nothing says, "You better get out of my website" better than reposting a thread like that...clearly they only want to get the issue all stirred up and make people stay away.

obviously.. if the mods/admin had a problem with the way we were posting layouts-- they would have said "yes, layouts means paper.. not .. layouts". but they didn't. they just closed the thread

It's mostly about the exposure for our designers. For instance, all of us hybrid babes are supposed to post in at least 3 "paper" galleries (2peas, Paper Craft Planet, Splitcoaststampers, and Scrapbook.com being bigger ones). We want to try and show people that digi is accessible and "just as good" as any of the regular, traditional paper stuff. It's about exposure and broadening the horizons.

I agree...the admin or mods aren't the ones saying that we can't post in that gallery...BUT, they also aren't taking a stance against the people who are obviously bullying others and making this a very dirty fight. That says more to me than if someone doesn't like looking at my layouts, kwim? Sure they closed the original thread, but it just came back up. Grr...

My main reason for doing it is a lot like Col: to get some exposure for both our craft and our designers outside of our little digi-world. Plus the paper galleries are just SO much larger and more active than our digi galleries. I have layouts at TwoPeas that have like 500+ views and 50 bookmarks when the same layout at MSA will have like 20 views and 2 faves. Sure all of that isn't going to translate into sales but I figure getting out and showing more people maybe a different side of digi than they've seen before can only be a good thing.

Wow. I stay away for a couple of days and all of this drama is going on. I have a gallery there but haven't checked it. I hate drama and haters. Life has so many more important things going on than this over the top paper vs. digi crap. Seriously.......am I in a time warp and went back to junior high?
I need to go check my gallery and see if I have had any hateful comments. I need to make a decision about my gallery there too. We will see. It just makes me more and more thankful for SSD. No haters here! It just makes me appreciate your girls and guy so much more! To be totally honest, it just makes me want to be ONLY here. It is a crazy world outside of SSD! Kinda scary! |

I had kind of decided not to post over there anymore, but then today I got some really sweet comments again (from one person in particular), and so now, I don't know what I'm going to do. I do think there are lots of really nice people there, so . . .

Actually I found that "featured artist" tab on the right side. Didn't see myself on there (maybe it changes throughout the day) but I did see A LOT of SSD ladies on there! Woohoo!
