Here's the thing that bugsme about auditions..knowing they have to get past producers it saddens me that some good talent i'm sure gets let go of for the sake of these idiots getting face time..yanno?

I say every year i'm not going to watch auditions..but I do it anyways lol

I do like Hollywood week thru finale...shrug I just don't like auditions
regardless...there were a few certifiable freaks tonite from Philly auditions lol

My oldest DD was mimicing the bear sounding dude..with the really low voice

OMG!

So was my DD!!! How funny! I had to tell her to stop at one point cause it was gettin' on my nerves! LOL!

My favorite is when the actual competition starts too! There are a bunch of things that bug me about the auditions like you said Meghan but I know the show does it on purpose. I just wish that if they are going to show the goofballs fine...but please show an even amount of the good ones trying out too.

I'm watching right now. OMGosh - the glitter girl was hilarious!!!

Honestly, I think they show more of the bad ones than good ones the first couple of weeks to keep people interested.

Yeah, the auditions get old really fast. It always seems to be one extreme or the other. I can't believe that guy waxed his chest and came back (and I also can't believe the costume he wore either). I wish the producers wouldn't cater to those people who are obviously just trying to get airtime on TV.

yeah they do..then you get the decent ones on the show and I feel horrible for them b/c top 12 is the FIRST time you see these people. They will never have the chance to get fan votes because they were never shown thru the whole audition time. For instance last year..Jordin, Blake, Chris Sligh, etc all got airtime prior to top 12..nobody knew who Brandon or Hayley were before week 1...granted they weren't the best but still, they may have had more of a following if they had airtime. I think audtion airtime plays a huge part in how far you go in the competition

AGREED!

I think auditions can be funny, but sometimes it's over the top straight up weird!

ITA! I really hate the auditions because they've gotten to the point where it's more bad than good, and really not even bad so much as just weird! It was one thing when it was people who were really trying to sing and were just bad but now it's just people who are purposely trying to end up on tv. I guess I just don't get why they allow them on TV, is it really that funny? For me it's not but thanks to my TiVo I skip through most of the show anyway, LOL.

I'm excited to see how things go when they allow them to have instruments. On the last two seasons of the Australian version they allowed instruments starting in the auditions and the level of talent they found was so much different (and better really) than what I've seen on the American version in awhile. Should be interesting to see if it plays out the same way in America.

They did that last season in Norway too, it was pretty good. The only thing though, a couple of people did their own songs (singing and playing the music) throughout the auditioning, and were really good, but then they didn't do so well in the top 12 because they had to do other songs, and it just didn't suit them as well - a bit of a shame because some of them were really good.

I couldn't agree more! And I have to say that I love Simon - the guy's honest, to the point (though I don't like when he's extremely hurtful sometimes and makes people cry!) and knows what he's talking about. He speaks the truth. Paula's useless IMO.

How about that 20 year old black/african american (I don't even know what the pc term is anymore) man that had an amazing voice? He was so good looking, gorgeous eyes, and a wonderful voice. If he doesn't mess up in Hollywood I'm predicting him for 1 of the top 10.

Yep I watched it. These are the ones I see featured at the finale:

Princess Leia: Ok, does this girl REALLY think it's because of the way she looked?

Prince(ss) Leia: Does he really think having his chest hair waxed would seal the deal? ROFL

Janis Joplin Wannabe: That has got to be the BEST freak out bitching session I have EVER seen on Idol! That girl was just SCARY!!

Paula Lover: That guy was just creepy!! Thank goodness Simon got security to escort him out.

They did that on Canadian Idol last season and it was SO much better!! But they were allowed to use instruments in the auditions right through "Hollywood week" (I can't remember where it is on the Canadian show - Toronto, maybe? lol)...

I agree with Meghan though - if you don't hear about a contestant before they get into the top 20, how are you supposed to vote for them? Obviously the ones that you've seen since auditions and have their entire whole life story are going to get the votes! There are some things that AI could learn from SYTYCD - both produced by the same person! Also, I hope that this season they get rid of the excessive celebrity ass-kissing. When they chose genres for them to choose songs from, rather than singing songs written/sang by a certain person - the show was much better.

I only got to see the second half, but it sure was chalk-full of crazies and talent alike....

The princess leia chick cracked me up. She totally looked like that woman from the movie Dodgeball...

And that guy that wrote that song for Paula.... you could tell he was seriously freaking Paula and Randy and Simon out. I mean, Simon loves to piss of Paula, but I think he saw how creepy the guy was and asked him to be escorted out. CREEPY!!!

But that 20-year-old black guy with the long-ish hair was AMAZING and seriously so hot!! Him and the last girl that went I think will go pretty far.

I agree and I totally see him making it into the top of this competition (if Hollywood goes well for him)!

There were some freaky people on last night! I usually don't watch the audition shows either, but DH wanted to watch so we did. I like to watch when they get to Hollywood & you don't have to listen to the really awful ones! Princess Leia, the glitter girl, the guy that waxed his chest & then the creepy guy - yikes!

I really like the one black guy, he does have an amazing voice. I also really liked the one black girl that had the disabled daughter, she had a pretty voice & a cute personality. I also liked the blond girl with the off the shoulder red shirt that did martial arts and the very last blond girl, the nanny that had never seen an R rated movie! I agree though I wish they'd show more of the good singers and less of the freaks!
