Winter Break! I teach, so I'll have off with the kids. Even though we've planned a lot of lazy weekends at home lately, I keep having to spend them on housework and helping Ben with long-term projects for school. (Because of his special needs, we have to be a lot more involved with his homework than with our other kids'.) I'm so ready for a longer break when I might get to scrap and do other fun things!

my motivation returning, seriously. I am in such a slump and feeling disconnected, can't put my finger on why or what.

My oldest is coming home for Christmas! He's in his freshman year of college in Virginia and we're in Belgium, so we haven't seen him since he left in August. And we get to spend several days of his winter break in London!

My sister having her baby. She's been trying to get pregnant for 3 years and finally it worked. She's just out of her first trimester. My niece will be coming in late April so we're busy starting to plan the shower and figure out how to decorate her room. I'm so, so excited for my sister to have a daughter of her own.

I am looking forward to the end of potty-training!

The end (ha ha!) seems to be in sight for daytime training after a year+ of stops & starts and my 3 1/2yo son refusing to even consider it.

It magically 'clicked' for him this weekend and he's been in underwear since. He did have a #2 accident today but I'll take what I can get!

I can't even imagine how it must feel to want to leave the country but not being able to. Good luck Sherly! Hope you will succeed soon.

We're just outside of Brussels on the Eastern side. I guess I should update my location in my profile!

Where are you, Sarah?

I don't know that many scrappers living in Belgium.

I'm in Turnhout. (Up north, near the border with the Netherlands).

I've got some friends living near Brussels (Overijse).
And a friend from Machelen who now lives closer to me.

I don't know many scrappers here, either. There are a few in my local area who are traditional paper scrapbookers and we've talked about getting together to crop, but haven't done it yet.

Turnhout is on my Belgian travels bucket list - I want to visit the béguinage and museum. Do you think this would be a good time of year to visit, or would it be better to wait until the spring?

Oh that sounds like so much fun!

The béguinage in Turnhout is beautiful! I used to work their on Wednesdays. So peaceful. But they moved my office elsewhere.

I'd say wait until Spring. They're currently working on the road and the sewerage so it looks like a construction site at the moment. Not sure when they plan on finishing. If you plan to visit, let me know and I'll let you know if they're still working on it or not.

My father-in-law & his new wife are coming to visit for Christmas, and I am so excited to meet her!! Joel went home for the wedding, but we couldn't afford for all of us to go. She seems really great, and it will be his dad's first trip to our new city. Having family come to visit is my favorite! (Except for going to visit family might be my more favorite, only the jet lag takes away some of the joy.)
