Help Me... Laura's Paint cans...
Okay so I do this all the time... I purchase stuff and never use it!!
I am bound and deteremined to make the paint cans from Laura Double Double Toile & Trouble Paint Can so what size do I print these in? Can I print in matte photograph? What are you using to glue it to the paint can? I know tons of questions.... What about her Goody Bag toppers I just assumed I would print as a photograph and attach with staples? THANK YOU in advance for the help!!! |

Hi Kim!
Print (print twice) the paint can templates as is and then cut them out . I used matte photo paper and glued them on with Mod Podge (Matte-Mat). Glue the back side of the paper onto the can and smooth out. When completely dry paint another layer of Mod Podge over the paper. Use a foam brush to paint on the glue. For the bag toppers... Just print out, cut and fold. Then staple over the bag. i used matte photo paper as well. HTH! Have fun with your project!!

If you have an ink jet printer, do you have to use a fixative so the ink doesn't run when you use mod-podge? Never done this before...

I use an inkjet too, and I didn't have any trouble with the colors running. I just printed and mod podged it right on there. I would assume it's the same for all inkjets? You could though, just to be sure, run some mod podge over a little test sheet. I played around with an old paint bucket at first....to make sure everything turned out right. Since this was my first project too. It may matter too if you use photo paper ot not... I chose not to use photo paper and I think it turned out great. Hope that helps. Here's a link to mine if ya wanna check it out... Paint Can Kim...yeah...make sure to post up some pictures! Can't wait to see it! Last edited by tracey; 10-24-2007 at 02:18 AM. |

These have been out in the computer craft industry for years. I've been making these since 2002. And they make FABULOUS gift holders! The easiest way to do them is to print on full sheet label paper and then do clear sheet laminate over top. I use Avery full sheet labels to print on and then Avery clear laminate sheets over top. Use your peeled off back from your sticker sheet as your pattern for your clear laminate. You can have it printed, assembled and ready to give in a matter of 10 minutes
Here are 2 of mine that I have photos of: From 4 years ago: I used a hot glue gun to attach the maribou Filled with Microwave popcorn, pajamas, a gift card to a movie rental place, and some other girlie things like gummy bracelets, notepad/journal, pen, etc. |

Oh, I like the laminate idea, no wrinkles! I use mod podge and it does work with no running of the inks. I find that I get less wrinkles if I apply in thin layers, applying it to the back of the paper before putting it on the can, let it dry, then apply to the front. Have fun!
