Cool! I still have my first generation Kindle, and it's still kicking! Of course, I also have my iPad, which is what I seem to do most of my reading on these days. I also love the fact that I can download library books. Just be prepared to put your name on the waiting list for anything that's even remotely current. And make sure you finish the book by the due date because it just disappears the day it's due!

Enjoy! I got a color Nook for Mother's Day and I love it!!! I have only downloaded books from the library so far and it works great. My only thumbs down is that my library system doesn't have all the books in the series I'm reading so I'm going to have to find paper versions of the books they don't have digitally, plus what Michelle said. You only get so many days to read the book and there are waiting lists - but upside is that I found a whole new series of books I love because I had to try something different. Prepare to be reading a lot!

I haven't got and eeader yet, but am planning to. You'll all have to do a review of the different ones you have to help me & others pick one

...I was worrying about the cost of the books themselves too - I hadn't realised library books are available via them. Thats excellent news!

fun!! I <3 my kindle

I don't buy just kindle books..I look for what's cheapest (pdf, epub, or kindle book) and just convert them myself if I need to. Sometimes I can snag a free epub from giveaway (have some reading blogs in my feed) and just conver then load it on my kindle.

anyway I hope you love it!!

Just had to pipe up here that most libraries are trying their hardest to get e-books. We've had to apply for grants to fund ours. With state and federal budgets slashing our funding, we're lucky we're ordering books, let alone electronic ones. We're keeping every finger crossed that our grant comes through for the funding, because we know they'd be in great demand.

ETA: Just FYI, I'm a librarian and have the "behind-the-scenes" scoop, so I wanted to share. Hehe

You can join the Philadelphia public library for a fee if you are not a resident! I will be interested to hear how the new nook is. Mine is well used and two of the page turning buttons are nearly impossible to push. If one more goes, I am going to need a new one. Not that there is anything wrong with the product. I read A LOT!

My mom just got my son a Nook COlor for his 6th birthday. I will be interested to see how it works for kids books!
