What's the last book you finished?

Mother of Winter by Barbara Hambly

A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley I loved it!

The Witch's Boy by Kelly Barnhill This is a middle grade fantasy and I absolutely adored it..so much so that I immediately picked up another one by Kelly Barnhill. Her writing is so unique and it was a great little story.

The Mostly True Story of Jack by Kelly Barnhill Unfortunately this one wasn't so great...it was just confusing and although the writing was good I couldn't make head nor tails of the story and I don't see middle graders getting it for sure.

The Museum of Literary Souls by John Connolly This is a short story and I loved it. The only thing I didn't like is that it wasn't a full length novel.

On Audible I have about 8 hours left of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke

What are you reading right now?

The Returned by Jason Mott

The Boneshaker by Kate Milford - middle grade fantasy

The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones

and still working through The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan with the kiddos.

What's on your TBR?

Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon

Fallen Beauty by Erika Robuck

Grange House by Sarah Blake

Going to school put me behind on my reading!!

I just finished Wonder which I totally loved! My little one is reading it in school so I had to follow along! She loooved that I knew all the characters! If you haven't read it I strongly recommend it!!

I also finished The Night Circus which was a fun read too!

I'm currently reading Matched which was recommended to me by my teenager!! It's a fast read!

I just downloaded The Ultimate Gift and will start that next. It's only 99 cents today. I bought the audio too so I'll try listening to it on my commute and see how that works!!

My Wishlist is huge so I'll be watching for suggestions!!

I'm currently reading American Sniper which I got from the library. As badly as I want to see the movie, I've got to tell you that I'm really struggling with the book. I find myself skimming large chunks of it (and I'm only 35% through it).

Chris Kyle is not an author, so it feels very choppy and without a lot of flow. There are also endless descriptions about what kind of gun he's carrying, what exactly their orders were, etc. And I get the feeling that a lot of the stories he tells are stretched beyond the limits of truth now and then (sorta like something you'd tell to your buddy in a bar).

I'll finish it just because I can't stand walking away from a book, but I'm disappointed cause I"d really been looking forward to this one.

Kjersti, isn't Matched fun? I really liked that one. The whole series is good.

I'm on my phone, so I'm not bothering with links. . . .

I recently finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaimann, The Paper Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg, and The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zavin.

Right now I'm reading Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin on my Kindle and At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon in paperback.

I don't know what will be next. It will probably depend on which book that I have on hold at the library comes through first.

I liked them all quite a bit Kjersti. They were all nice easy reads with engaging stories. I really, really liked A. J. Firky. A lot. I'm not that far into the two that I'm reading right now, but I'm enjoying them so far.
